Message From Superintendent, Dr. Zadravec
As you may be aware, the NH Secretary of State recently announced that the Presidential Primary will take place on Tuesday, January 23rd. Since voting takes place in our schools, this will now become a No School day for students. The changes have been made on our school calendars, which can be found on our website here.
Sincerely,
Steve Zadravec
What does this mean for conferences and report cards?
We will send out more information about report cards and conferences. We will NOT be having our traditional conference day on March 12, as we will be engaged in district professional development. We have had to relook at our conference schedule for THIS YEAR and some may do another progress check in on January 23, while others may continue to ask if families want to check in during March. I will send more specifics next week.

Hayley LaPoint Visits RES!
Hayley LaPoint, a meteorologist for WMUR9 came to teach our first and fourth graders about her job and weather. Students got a video tour of the studio and learned that you don't wear green on tv! They also learned about the types of clouds and a lot about thunder and lightening. It was fascinating and she came for free so we are very thankful for her time! Fun fact, Mrs. Pitts taught Hayley's brother in first grade...he is now 26, yikes!

Art Work Porftolios
For those who may not know, we ;publish a literary art magazine, Talents by the Sea every spring. In this student publication, we have art pieces submitted by our RES students. When Mrs. Barrett sends home art projects, please keep these projects and have discussions with your child(ren) about whether the piece might be a potential submission for Talents by the Sea. We will ask for any child who wants to send a piece back in to do so in March. We do not have the capacity to store all the art here at school but think this might be an opportunity for a mini-lesson at home about portfolio selection!

December Tidbits
Gifts of Our Community Assembly
Families can attend the 8:30 AM assembly on December 8. This is the event that all family members will be invited to attend during the day.
Holiday Parties
Parties: When planning, keep in mind the following recommendations from the Wellness Committee for all parties:
• one homemade treat avoiding artificial dyes and/or high fructose corn syrup
• one or two healthy snacks (a great way to get creative with colorful fruits and vegetables)
• one moving activity (relay race, tossing, balancing, wrapping friends in toilet paper)
• one artistic craft as an option
• keep in mind RES efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle
*We do ask that room parents/guardians email the teacher and Lori Flint all food choices a week ahead so there are no surprises and Mrs. Flint can process whether these are safe for all students in a particular class. Please email her if you have questions! lflint@sau50.org
Mall in the Hall
Below is a link to the Mall in the Hall. We are sending this to families this year so you might have some context into this school-wide event.

Lunch with Students
We do allow one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren) but this is very optional and we don't want families to feel pressured to attend.
- Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time (starting October 1). It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
- We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
- Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria.
- Lunch times are:
Kindergarten-11:45-12:10
First Grade-12:15-12:40
Second Grade-12:15-12:40
Third Grade- 11:15-11:40
Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40
