Student Raises Nearly $1100 for Ukrainian Medical Aid
Troy Brooks heeded the call. After Mr. Screven sent out a request to our community to lend support for civilian victims of land mines and toy bombs in Ukraine, Troy Brooks took up the challenge. Approaching medical offices, 911 dispatch, friends, family, and neighbors, Troy was able to raise $1,100 in supplies to provide many of the needed items for the more than 100 land mine victim response kits being prepared for shipment to Ukraine.
Mr. Screven will be heading to Ukraine this summer to distribute and train new first responders on their use. However, please know more is still needed. If your family would like to purchase supplies for the worthy cause of aiding civilians, including the child victims of Toy bombs (toys boobytrapped and left for children to discover) Please reach out to Mr. Screven at, james.screven@pgcps.org and he can send you the list of still much-needed items and how to purchase them from Amazon. No monies will be accepted directly.
These efforts are in connection with Mission Kharkiv, a recognized and vetted not-for-profit organization in Ukraine. Please join me in applauding the selfless efforts of this young man. Troy should take great pride in this achievement which he will undoubtedly remember his whole life.
