Dear Lester Prairie Families,

The Minnesota Department of Education and Department of Revenue are asking us to spread the word that families can access federal funds through the Child Tax Credit. The deadline is November 15, 2022. There is an easy form for people to file on mobile devices in 15 minutes or less at: getctc.org

Many families may not know that they are eligible for the CTC or that they can still claim it using a simplified filing tool. Families can also use the simplified tool to file their tax return if they have not yet received the third stimulus check. The simplified tool GetCTC.org/mn is for families who do not have a 2021 filing requirement – typically this means their income is below $12,550 if filing single, or $25,100 if filing married. The traditional filing method is still available until 2025. The November 15 deadline is for those interested in using the electronic portal.

Do you have children ages 5 and under? Are you in our school district census? Being in the school census ensures that you will be notified for Early Childhood Screening, preschool registration information, and kindergarten information when your child becomes eligible to attend. Please note that the school census will only be used for school business and is handled in a confidential manner. To help make sure our census is accurate, please contact us if you have recently had a new baby, moved into the community, adopted, or have children ages 5 and under in your household. 55+ Driver Discount Refresher Course is being offered Monday November 14, 5:30-9:30 PM in the Media Center. Cost is $24, registration deadline is Nov 9. Register for this class at www.mnsafetycenter.org or 1-888-234-1294. Minimum of 15 participants needed to hold class on site. This class is for those who have taken the initial 8-hour course and would like to maintain their 10% auto insurance discount.

The School District uses the School Messenger Alert System to inform parents of school closings, late starts, early outs, and emergencies. Please make sure we have your current contact information so you receive our communications!
