Primary Bears,

This week we began our beginning of the year baseline assessments of our students. Students take a reading and a math screener to help us determine strengths and areas to target for intervention or enrichment.

Speaking of interventions, we have school-wide "What I Need" time or WIN. This time targets student's needs such as speech, dyslexia, GT, extra help in reading or math or enrichment. If you pull your child early from school, they will miss targeted WIN time. Students with too many leave earlies or absences do show struggles academically and miss valuable instruction. Students who are pulled out early are subject to the truancy policy below. If you pull your child for a doctor's appointment, please send a doctor's note so that we may change the coding.

We have included the mandatory attendance policy in your child's folders. If your child is absent, please send a note within 3 days. Students must attend school 90% of the days to be promoted. If a student is absent more than 15 days in a school year, a committee must convene to determine grade placement.

A student must be in attendance each school day for the entire time instruction is provided. A student is in violation of the state’s compulsory attendance law when he/she has three or more unexcused days or parts of days in a four-week period. The student is subject to truancy prevention measuers under Texas Education Code 25.0915. Accumulation of ten unexcused days or parts of days in a six-month period, the parent whose student is in violation of these laws is subject to persecution under Texas Education Code 25.093, and/or the student is subject to a referral to truancy court under Section 65.003 Family Code.

Please take a quick moment to check your child's daily folder. While we try to limit paperwork going home, we don't want you to miss anything. Please review the folder each night when you are reading to your child.

Morning carline runs 6:45-7:25. Use the shortest line (gym or front of school).

The left "express" lane in the front of the school is only for students capable of getting out on their own and using a cross walk.

*For safety, please don't have students exit to the middle of the driveway. Have them exit the vehicle to the side of the sidewalk.

Students that are in car seats and need help unbuckling, parents please park on the gym side and walk them up.

Our meal payments platform, Titan Family Portal, has been upgraded to LINQ Connect. Be
sure to download the new LINQ Connect App in the Google Play or Apple Store available now and
visit LINQConnect.com if you use a browser. No need to change your username or password. All your information will be transferred to the new site for your convenience.

Parents/guardians are invited to eat lunch with their children, beginning September 5, 2023. We ask that you allow us to have the first weeks of school to orient our students in cafeteria procedures. We want to be sure our students know where to sit, how to ask for help, where to move through the lunch line, etc. Beginning September 5th, parents wishing to eat with their child(ren) will sign in at the office and obtain a visitor badge. For safety, parents may eat with their child only. Our students will be utilizing all of the seats in the cafeteria; therefore, parent seating for lunch will be located at designated areas on our outside picnic tables. With our limited seating for parents, we ask that you keep this mind on inclement weather days. In accordance with FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act), videos and photographs of students other than your own are prohibited. Again, parent seating is only outside this year. Our campus is out of space for indoor seating.

Our campus has water refill stations. In order to keep our students hydrated, we ask that each student bring a water bottle with their name somewhere on the bottle. Our water fountains are open for all students to use as well.

Our students have snack time daily. Your child's teacher will provide a schedule.

No School on Fridays.

Please do not send students in flip flops to school. More dress code details are below. Students need tennis shoes on PE days to participate.
