Message from Dr. Zilliox
Dear Fredonia School Community,
I hope this message finds you well as we approach the halfway mark of the 2022-2023 school year. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication over the past five months. It is important that we take time to celebrate and recognize the great work that has been done so far this year, while also looking ahead to long-term planning for the district.
At our January 30 in-service day, we are going to take some time to review our focus areas and summarize the highlights for the school year. This information will be part of our next newsletter after our meeting on this day.
In the meantime, please remember some of our focus areas for this year. They include:
Promoting and sustaining our updated mission, vision, and core beliefs as key philosophical touch points for the district.
Develop a deeper understanding of our overall academic programs and assist in establishing instructional next steps.
Developing learning opportunities that are innovative, dynamic, and global.
Creating a sense of belonging for all students and adults across the district.
Recognize and support the basic needs of our students and adults.
Implement procedures, protocols, and/or strategies that help to promote positive working relationships.
Develop social-emotional learning skills that result in self-awareness, self-management, and the capability to focus.
Provide educational experiences that address learning growth through targeted instruction and intervention.
Please look for follow-up information in our next update coming in early February. We look forward to a positive and productive second semester.
Please remember to contact any of our offices with questions, concerns, or ideas.
Respectfully,
Brad
Innovation Gives Back
Fredonia PTECH student Tyler Mathews was recently featured in a story by Erie 2 BOCES. Tyler designed and created an adaptive video game controller for a disabled veteran through the process of 3D printing. Read the full story here. We're so proud of you, Tyler, for making a difference in such an innovative way.
Advanced Music Performance Group Dazzles
Our Advanced Music Performance students put on a great recital recently. This event features over 20 of our best High School Student Musicians and their accompanists performing college level literature.
Enjoy the video of the full performance above.
Congrats Art Honor Society Inductees!

Help our Tri-M Musicians Give Back
The Tri-M Music Honor Society is partnering with one of Western New York's most valuable resources for families facing the financial and emotional burden of a pediatric cancer diagnosis. We are looking to our Fredonia community to consider donating and help raise money for this cause!
Many of you may have heard of P.U.N.T. through the strong partnership and involvement of Buffalo Bills player, Dawson Knox. You can read more about the at the PUNT website - click here.
We are asking our FCSD community to consider donating to P.U.N.T in one of two ways! ALL funds will be directly donated to PUNT in an effort to help support families in the Western New York Region.
1.) Please visit our PUNT/Tri-M Donation Website; https://give.classy.org/FMD-GivesBack
2.) Purchase a PUNT wristband for $5 (pictured below). Please complete this brief Google Order Form by February 15th. We are accepting cash and/or checks made payable to PUNT Pediatric Cancer Collaborative. A money envelope will be in each building's main office Monday morning!
