Kindergarten Playground after school
We are having issues with the Kindergarten playground after school. Students are not following school rules and items are getting broken. Students are also now disrupting the work of the staff in that area because of their actions.
Therefore, the playground is open from 1:45-3pm. Please leave the Kindergarten area by 3pm. If you would like to continue playing, move to the big yard.
Bathrooms are available on the Blacktop for use. The office restrooms are not available.
Students must be supervised by an adult who is watching them play. I have noticed a lot of parents socializing or on their phones, and not watching their kids climb on the walls, climb on the houses, throw balls at the windows, etc.
Please work to make sure we do not have to close the yard after school.
Thanks

Wellness committee
Hello Parents,
The Mark West School District is actively looking for parental involvement in serving on our District Wellness Committee. The Wellness committee meets 2-3 times a year for 1 hour each meeting via zoom. The Wellness committee helps to promote the belief that foods and beverages available to students at district schools should support the health curriculum and promote optimal health, taking into consideration the needs of students with special dietary needs.
We need your help to continue this goal. If you would like to serve on the District Wellness Committee please reach out to Kelly Sansone (ksansone@mwusd.org) to join or with any questions.

IMPORTANT - Winter Concert Date Change!
The District Winter Concert for 4th-, 5th-, and 6th-grade music students will now be on the evening of Thursday, February 29 to avoid a conflict with Riebli's 6th-grade field trip. Please save the date! I hope all 4th-6th music students at Mark West, Riebli, and San Miguel can make it! The concert will be held in the Mark West Elementary gym on Feb. 29. All guitar, clarinet, and trumpet students will perform from 5:45-6:20pm. All violin and chorus students will perform from 6:45-7:20pm. Music students will receive info flyers in their classes soon.
As always, please help music students to remember their instruments and music/books on their music days: Riebli on Mondays, San Miguel on Tuesdays, and Mark West on Fridays. Please encourage students to practice a little every day. One half hour of instruction once a week is not enough to learn these instruments. Daily practice can make the biggest difference, making it more fun for the student as well. Happy playing!
The next meeting of the Mark West Education Foundation will be on Tuesday, February 6 from 5:00-6:00pm at the District Office Learning Center. Please join us to learn more about how to support music and arts education in the Mark West District! All are welcome!
