The New School Year is Almost Here

WELCOME to the 2022-2023 School Year! The WMS staff is so excited for the school year to begin.

We look forward to welcoming our 6th-graders on Wednesday, August 17th.! Welcome to the Demon Crew! A few reminders about 6th-grade Orientation Day. Our first bell rings at 7:54. When students arrive at school, they should go to the playground/blacktop area behind the school. At the first bell, students will be directed with next steps. Orientation is a full day of school. Students will be dismissed at 3:45. It will be an exciting day of getting to know our 8th-grade WEB leaders, fellow 6th-graders, and about WMS.

On Thursday, August 18th, we welcome all students back to school!

Washington Middle School

Students and parents need to read the WMS Student Handbook and follow the rules and policies of our school and district. At the end of the handbook, there is a required page for students and parents to sign and return to school. This page also ensures parents and students understand Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

I am the middle child of three children. I have an older and younger sister. I love to read in my free time. One of my favorite books is Watership Down by Richard Adams. I get my haircut about once every three days. I know the barber closely, so we worked out an arrangement. Some things that I love: Family time, football, movies, popcorn, ribeye steak, dark chocolate, pie, hiking, video games. I would consider myself a self-starter and more of a leader than a follower. Once I get my bearings, I am ready to go. I am on my third career. I was a United States Marine and served as a sheriff’s detective in California. I have always sought out careers where I can be of service to others. I look forward to getting to know each of you and serving the school community and the community of Glendive.

Our Kitchen Crew works very hard to provide healthy and enjoyable meals for our students, staff, and visitors. Our breakfast and lunch menus are located on our school website. Click here. Please note the meal includes one drink. If a student takes more than one, he/she is charged for the additional drink.

This year GPS needs to return to charging students for breakfast and lunch if they choose to eat the lunch provided by the school. If your family would like to apply for free and reduced lunch, please return the necessary paperwork sent home with your student on the first days of school, reach out to our Main Office, or print from here. This paperwork and qualification are required not to be charged for breakfast/lunch.

The cost of lunch is $ 2.50.

The cost of breakfast is $ 1.50.

Students get breakfast or lunch from the kitchen telling an adult their student ID number. No tickets are necessary. Money can be added to your student's account by bringing a check or cash to the school's Main Office. Notification of your student's lunch account balance is through Infinite Campus.

At the end of the handbook, there are other pages that need to be returned to school. These include:

• Internet Use Policy- your child is unable to receive their Chromebook and use the internet without this page returned.
• Student Medical Release/Permission Form
• Annual Parent/Guardian Field Trip Consent Form

Thank you for your assistance in returning these essential forms as quickly as possible.

Any WMS student who would like to participate in a sport needs to have an updated sports physical. This needs to be turned into the coach or the Main Office before any student participates.

All student-athletes must read and agree to the rules listed in the Activities Handbook. At the end of the handbook is an Activity Agreement page. This must be signed and returned to the coach.
