The FISD eLearning plan is focused on facilitating an asynchronous eLearning model. Asynchronous learning allows groups of students to study independently at different times and locations from each other, without real-time communication taking place. Asynchronous eLearning is student-centered and provides more flexibility. The idea is that students can learn on any device, anywhere, anytime and on any browser.

Frisco ISD School’s campus is closed to normal operations through April 3rd due to safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19. All in-person classes have been suspended and replaced with eLearning. Students will participate in an eLearning through Friday, April 3rd. Links to teacher assignments will be available on the school’s website each Monday at noon. Please note that all after-school activities and events are canceled during this time.

Here are suggestions for parents to make their child’s e-Learning successful:

• Have a dedicated time that a computer or device is available for students.

• Set-up a daily schedule for your kids to have dedicated school time preferably during teacher virtual office hours, Mondays 1-3 p.m. and Tuesdays-Fridays 9-11 or 1-3. This time is where students/parents can email teachers for help and questions. Students would also have the time to group chat or live zoom/google chat with a teacher if needed. Here is a sample schedule your student might follow (see additional sample schedules below).

• The deadline for all lessons/activities is Sunday at 11:59 p.m. We want to help support our families with monitoring their child’s work completion, to assist with working parents and households with multiple children (though we still highly recommend submitting assignments as they are completed throughout the week and not waiting until the last minute).
• The eLearning instruction for the week of March 30th-April 3rd will focus on new content and standards. Please note that teachers will track student progress on completed assignments based on the activities submitted through eLearning.
• As we move into new content, teachers will have the option of continuing daily lesson plans or framing the learning in chunks of activities that more align with the nature of their learning standards. Hopefully, this will also provide additional flexibility for you and your family.
• The eLearning lesson plans for the upcoming week will be posted on campus websites at 12:00 p.m. on Monday for the week.
• The Monday schedule and virtual office hours were adjusted to reflect time for teacher collaboration and lesson preparation. Virtual office hours for accessibility are:
• 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday
• 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday – Friday

To access your student's lessons and assignments each week, please visit the Vandeventer Website. Once you have accessed our website, please follow these instructions:

1. Find the News Section on the homepage
2. Click on the eLearning tab (logo pictured above)
3. Find your student's teachers and click on their name
4. Follow the instructions provided for each day of learning

If you have trouble locating the teacher lesson plans, you may click on the link below for direct access.

All students should do the following during this week of e-Learning:

• Check the campus home page for access to teacher lesson plans (see instructions above)
• Click on the activities, lessons, and/or assignments that teachers have linked in their lesson plan via the eLearning tab on the campus website
• Follow all instructions
• Check school email for additional information
• Complete the assignments by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. (each week of learning)

Reach out to your teachers during their virtual office hours, Mondays, 1-3 p.m. and Tuesdays-Fridays, 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Teacher email addresses may be found on the Vandeventer Staff Page.

• FCC agreement stating that providers will waive late fees, not cutoff service for lack of payment, and open hot-spots.
• Comcast COVID-19 response: offers free WiFi for 2 months to low income families plus all Xfinity hot-spots are free to the public during this time
• Charter Free Internet offer for 2 months
• AT&T COVID-19 response: offers open hot-spots, unlimited data to existing customers, and $10/month plans to low income families
• Verizon COVID-19 response: no special offers, but following the FCC agreement.
• Sprint COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, provides unlimited data to existing customers, and, starting Tuesday, 3/17/2020, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge (I expect others will follow).
• T-Mobile COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, plus unlimited data to existing customers, and, coming soon, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge (I expect others will follow).

The PTA needs volunteers to donate their time and talents to the Vandeventer PTA Board. This is a great chance to meet other parents, get to know the Vandeventer staff and faculty, and let us show you what makes our school the best middle school in Frisco!

The elected PTA Executive Board positions are:

President – Organizes and coordinates the overall activities of the association to reach its goals. Oversees all functions and programs of the VMS PTA.

1st VP Membership – Responsible for the recruitment of PTA membership, maintains existing membership, assists the president.

2nd VP/Ways and Means/Fundraising – Coordinates, oversees, and reports on the fundraising activities of the association.

Secretary – Maintains a written record of the activities of the association.

Treasurer – Maintains the financial records of the association.

After the election of the Executive officers in April, the remaining Board/Chair positions will be filled.

8th Grade Parents

Liberty PTSA needs you! The Liberty Parent Teacher Student Association is seeking individuals who desire to support our school, students and teachers/staff in 2020-2021. We have several open roles due to two year term limits. Some of those open roles and the high level details are below.

President – oversight of board activities and meetings, liaison with school

Programs – bringing in outside speakers/activities that are engaging for our community (3x per year)

Membership – supports the marketing and sign up of memberships for PTSA

Parliamentarian – insures the PTSA follows rules, guidelines and bylaws

Senior parent committee – this is committee within the PTSA collaborating with Senior Chair on all senior related activities

Junior parent chair – Should there be class specific activities this person manages that but also shadowing of the senior committee chair for preparation for the Senior parent role (following year)

Sophomore Parent Chair – Should there be class specific activities this person manages that

Freshmen Parent Chair – Should there be class specific activities this person manages that
