Mass Causality Triage

The ASPR/TRACIE White-paper produced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says the following:


“There is no clear evidence base that supports the use of triage tags and consensus from the round-table participants supports the idea of not using tags when it would delay treatment or transport, particularly in dynamic incidents. However, taping systems may offer benefit identifying live (but not alert) and deceased patients prior to their arrival at a collection/transport point.”


Mass Casualty Incidents are sadly occurring more often and EMS must be prepared to respond to these critical calls with experience performing triage, treatment and transport. EMS and hospital services should select a triage system that is adaptive, easily recognizable, and standardized within the jurisdiction or response area.

BDLS® is a competency-based, awareness-level course that teaches an all-hazards approach to mass casualty management and population-based care.


Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS)

When: Thursday-Friday, March 12-13, 8:00am-5:00pm

Where: Intermountain Center for Disaster Preparedness (LDS Hospital, 3rd Floor North)

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Basic Disaster Life Support class

Cost: $80 (NDLSF registration and materials)

ADLS® is a competency-based, interactive course in mass casualty management that builds on the knowledge gained in the Basic Disaster Life Support class.
