Columbia Central Weekly Bulletin
Week of January 22nd
What's Happening This Week: 🏀🎺📘
Dear Parents,
Our PBIS dance was a huge success last week. We had a big turn out for this event. Our students and staff really enjoyed themselves. Please take note of other events last week that are captured in pictures featured below.
We congratulate Sue Edwards, long time Board member who recently retired from the Board at the end of her final Board meeting Thursday of last week. She was surrounded by friends and family throughout the Board meeting as we celebrated her years of service to Steger School District 194.
MAP testing begins tomorrow. Please make sure your child is well rested and has a breakfast before coming to school. Also, it is important that your child has a charged laptop before coming to school. Students use this device to participate in the assessment. Our Math MAP session takes place tomorrow while the ELA Map session begins on Wednesday. This is an important assessment so please make sure your child is at school on time and fully prepared to do their best on this assessment.
Just as a reminder, we have an 11 am early dismissal day this coming Friday.
Let's make it a great week at Columbia!

SEL Second Step Program
Dear Parents,
In this week’s Second Step lesson, your child will work on a Service-Learning Project to identify and organize an improvement project on campus to help address bullying and harassment. Your child will identify a physical area of the school campus that is a hotspot for bullying and harassment. They will investigate who is available to help improve the safety of that area. Your child will create and implement a plan for campus improvement.
Parents, you could try this at home. Ask your child the following questions: Where on the school campus does bullying occur? Who is around to help? And what do they think would decrease bullying in that area of the school campus?
