Earlier this Spring, Windom Schools received a grant from Toro for $100,000 to revitalize the Environmental Center (the wooded area to the south of the MSHS). This will include replacing the bridge, building an outdoor classroom, cleaning up the brush, lighting the path, making benches/tables available, and building two permanent docks in the wetland. Eagle Path Manufacturing is busy building docks, benches, and tables. Thank you Eagle Path!
In addition, the Cottonwood County Deer Hunter’s Association also wrote a grant to remove invasive grass that has taken over the Environmental Center and replace it with native grass and wild flowers. Their project was approved at the board meeting on Monday evening. The Environmental Center will be an amazing place to take students to learn about the great outdoors! It will also be enjoyed by the Windom Community as a beautiful outdoor space.
This project will begin on June 22 with Toro employees being released from work to start the brush clean up! Thank you Toro!
