• If you have a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024, and is planning to attend kindergarten in the fall, pre-registration is open. Please access the form to pre-register your child.
  
• Kindergarten New Family Night is on April 25 from 6:15-7:00 PM in the Jr. High Cafeteria.
  This event will also be live-streamed.

Third and fifth-grade students took the CogAT today. This is one piece of information used for class placements and is used to identify students in need of gifted services. Reports will be sent via email to families the week of February 20.

The theme for February is Mindset. In school, we talk about having a Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset. Having a Growth Mindset means that you thrive on challenge, and don’t see failure as a way to describe yourself but as a springboard for growth and developing your abilities. The alternative is having a Fixed Mindset. When we are in a fixed mindset, we believe that our basic qualities such as intelligence or talent are fixed traits. So what can you do to help change your or your child’s Fixed Mindset into a Growth Mindset?

• Become aware of your or your child’s mindset- listen to your inner voice or your child’s dialogue

• Change your inner voice and model this for your child- change the phrase “I can’t” to “I can’t yet”.

• Remember something that you thought you would never achieve, but did- point out similar accomplishments to your child (eg. “Remember how you thought you would never…?”)

• Take Growth Mindset actions- plan smaller steps to move toward accomplishing a larger goal and note progress along the way

• Praise yourself and your child for progress made- praising progress is important to shift focus away from results, and toward the process of learning

• Be patient and determined- model this attitude for your child
