January 2023

Our Vision
At PVMS, we strive to provide all students with a relevant and rigorous education that promotes high achievement, celebrates diversity, and prepares all students to engage meaningfully with their community.
Our Mission
To ensure that all students learn at grade level or higher while fostering individual interests.
Happy New Year!
We are one semester down, and it seems like this year is going by fast! As we are completing this last semester, we are encouraging our students to become more independent. Think of it as if we are "taking the training wheels off." Encourage your child to do their best, be an advocate for themselves, and seek help if they are in need.
Course Selection Process
In the next few weeks, we will began course selections for the next school year. This is an important time to communicate with your child how comfortable they are in their core classes (Math, English, Science, Social Studies). Course selections help us to determine the number of classes and staff we need for the next year, so please be sure to double check what your child has signed up for and communicate with us prior to April if there are any changes. The counselors will be visiting classrooms and we will send communication home when it is time to select the classes. As always, if you have any questions about this process, please feel free to reach out to our counselors. Rachel.Schneider@lrsd.org (A-K) Pamela.lewis@lrsd.org (L-Z)
Clubs
Students will be able to change their clubs if they want to starting next week. They will be shown the slides below and will select their club with our RTI Schedular.
East Agriculture is in need of red SOLO CUPS for their upcoming Spring plant sale! Please reach out to Ms. Thompson (shelby.thompson@lrsd.org). You may also drop off cups in the front office (label them "East Ag-Thompson).
7th and 8th Grade - Science Fair projects are due Friday, Jan. 12.
6th Grade Science Fair projects are due Tuesday, Jan. 16th.
Report Cards
Report Cards will be available on HAC/sent home on January 9th.
Reminder:
Due to safety concerns, we will no longer be allowing students to cross the street at the bus loading area (Ranch Drive) to meet parents. We have tried to monitor and adjust, but we are still seeing safety issues. This means that parents will not be able to park at the bank and wait for students or come across the street. If you are willing to exit your car and walk to the side walk to escort your student across the street you may do so. However, all "walkers" will be directed to the stop sign at the intersection of Ranch Dr/Ranch Blvd towards the residential areas.
We cannot direct students towards private businesses any longer. If you have communicated that your student will be a "walker" but you meet them off campus; understand that they will be asked to walk to the end of Ranch Drive before they can meet you at your designated location. If you need to pick up your student, you will need to stay in the car line and pick them up from the back of the school. All car riders will need to be picked up from the back of the school in the car line. No car riders will be allowed to cross Ranch Drive to enter cars. We will continue to ensure that our car line moves quickly and effectively to honor your time restraints.
If you arrive after 4:45p for pick-up, please pick your student up from the front of the school. We hope you understand that we have an obligation to honor the requests of our business partners in the Ranch but, most importantly, that the safety of our students is our first priority. We appreciate your flexibility!
Personal Technology
A friendly reminder that students are not allowed to bring personal computer devices (laptop or chromebooks) or Ipads to school, or connect cellphones to the LRSD network. If students "must" have their devices after school they need to check the device in to the office and can retrieve them after school is over.
Dress Code

Name Badges
All students are required to wear an ID badge throughout the school day. The student's name and photo should be visible, and the ID should be worn around the neck and outside of their clothing. Students are required to wear a grade-appropriate lanyard with their ID.
ID badges are a part of the student dress code and ID badge policy.
All students have received their badges.
Students who are in violation of wearing an ID badge will be allowed to call the parent/guardian to have the badge brought to school. If a parent cannot be reached, students will need to get a temporary badge.
Students who have lost his/her badge or cannot retrieve the badge must purchase a replacement.
Consequences For Not Displaying/Possessing School ID
· 1st Violation- Warning and documentation by staff
· 2nd Violation- Parent Notification/Compliance letter to parent
· 3rd Violation- Subject to LRSD Policy (Rule 33) Repeated violation of
Cat. 2 Offense Page 54 of the LRSD student handbook.
If a replacement ID is needed, students will need to pay $5.00 or 150 PBIS points. Replacement lanyards or badge holders are $2.00 or 50 PBIS points. To replace the whole badge, badge holder, and lanyard is $9.00 or 250 PBIS points.
