Clarks Creek Happenings
The Week of April 9 - 13
BUSY WEEK AHEAD!
Good evening, families,
There is so much happening this week, I wanted to send you a few last minute reminders. My last newsletter came out right as we began spring break, so I wanted to be sure that everyone saw the information about this week’s events.
As always, thank you for your support of our school and all of the happenings that take place to make Clarks Creek a fun place to grow and learn! I will look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events!
Kind regards,
Marisa Donovan
Principal
Free Parent Workshop Tomorrow
Earlier this fall, we held a Parent Night with Kirk Martin, a renowned child behavior specialist, for all Clarks Creek families. This was so well received that we decided to hold another evening for parents in the entire district. This will take place tomorrow, April 10th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the board room at the central office building (985 Longfellow Lane), which is in the parking lot of the middle school. You’ll enter through the doors that are furthest east, near the tennis courts. See the attached flyer for more information.
NO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY
This Wednesday, April 11th is a professional development day for teachers. There will be no school for students.
Grandparent's Night Thursday!
This Thursday is our annual Grandparents’ Night from 4:30 – 6:00. Doors will open right at 4:30. All doors to the building will be open, other than doors 7 and 8 (Imagination Lab doors). We encourage families to try out the new parking lot on the northeast corner of the building, right outside the Imagination Lab. Turn onto Michael Drive to enter this new lot and then you may enter the building through door 9 near the dock. (This will put you in prime position to hit the cookie station in the cafeteria!) The evening is an “open house” format, with things to see in classrooms, snacks in the cafeteria, and the book fair to peruse in Town Hall.
As usual, parking will be at a premium, so remind grandparents to wear comfortable shoes. To assist those who need a shorter walk, the entire front lot on the west side of the building will be reserved for permitted accessible parking. If a grandparent needs a shorter walk but may not have an accessible parking permit, please have another family member drop that person off near one of the doors on the north or south side of the building and then park. As a hint for families trying to meet up with other family members once inside the building, if you’re coordinating by phone or text, plan to meet somewhere upstairs, as the lower level’s cell service can be spotty.
We look forward to seeing your child and a special relative on Thursday!
It's Book Fair Week!
This week is our spring book fair! Students will visit the fair twice; once to take a look around and another time to make any purchases if they would like to. Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. There is always a wonderful selection of engaging books for every reading level.
Book Fair dates: Tuesday April 10th, Thursday April 12th, and Friday April 13th
Shopping hours: 9am – 4pm
Special activities: Grandparents Night 4:30pm – 6pm on Thursday, April 12th
If you are unable to attend the fair in person, we invite you to visit our online book fair at scholastic.com/fair. Our online book fair is available until Saturday April 14th.
We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school.
Restaurant Night Thursday
Between 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. this Thursday, the PTO will be hosting a school restaurant night at Chick-Fil-A. This may be a great way to eliminate some of the hustle and bustle of a busy night, and by simply mentioning our school, a portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit our PTO.
