A Message from Dr. Hicks
Hello Cougars,
It is with great excitement that I share some important news as we prepare for the coming school year. Our Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees approved an additional School Resource Officer for our schools and a new Safety/DAEP Administrator who started earlier this month. We are thankful to the city of Jarrell for partnering with us to support the additional School Resource Officer. Special thanks to our Chief of Police, Chief Denney, for his continuous support of our district and community. Mr. Billy Madden, Safety/DAEP Administrator, has many years of experience in both campus administration and security. He is responsible for updating and enhancing our safety and security protocols. You can read more about Mr. Madden below. In addition to hiring Mr. Madden, and the additional School Resource Officer, we are adding more surveillance cameras, and implementing new security protocols. We are also holding a Safety Summit later this month with community members, parents, staff, and students to discuss safety plans and procedures.
As we get closer to the start of the school year, please know we are working with families to complete the paperwork for Free and Reduced-Price Meals. Last year, all students ate for free as part of a COVID-19 Relief Aid package passed by Congress. Unfortunately, that program has ended. Additional information is below, including links to the applications. All our Jarrell ISD families should fill out the applications. Should families need assistance with the paperwork, we will host events to assist families with the paperwork. Even if you don't qualify for free and reduced-price lunch, you could be eligible for other assistance, including discounts for internet access, Advanced Placement, SAT, or ACT tests and college application fees.
Finally, our Returning Student Information Verification portal will open later this week on Ascender. It's imperative parents login and review the information we have on file. We will send out an email letting you know the portal is open.
Have a terrific week. Stay hydrated and cool.
Cougar proud,
Dr. Toni Hicks

Meet Billy Madden, Safety/DAEP Administrator
Billy Madden joined the Jarrell ISD family earlier this month.
As Safety/DAEP Administrator, Mr. Madden will oversee all our safety and security procedures and our Emergency Operation Plan. He's also head of our DAEP program.
Mr. Madden most recently worked at Temple ISD, where he was the safety administrator at three Temple ISD campuses, including the high school.
“My heart is in public education. I’m grateful for the opportunity to put my years of experience to work in this great community,” he said.
In addition to working as a safety administrator at Temple ISD, Mr. Madden has been a principal and an assistant principal.
