Today's Effort is Tomorrow's Reward
Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven't planted.
- David Bly
This time of year, the theme always centers around being thankful for who and what we have in life. Built around the time of the harvest, being grateful and focusing on gratitude is immensely important.
It's also important to remember how we got where we are. Never underestimate the impact your past efforts have had on your current successes.
The seeds you began planting on August 10th are starting to sprout and will continue to grow through the hard work and dedication you bring with you everyday. As we move through this month, encourage your students to reflect on their own growth as well. Highlight the progress they have made academically, socially, and behaviorally.
If you have a day that leaves you feeling like nothing went right, reflect back to where you began and see the positive things that have happened along the way.
If you need help, reach out to your Student Support Services coach. We would love to meet with you.
A note from Student Support Services
A Penny Gained is a Penny Earned
When a student engages in misbehavior their consequence is the missed opportunity to earn their next token or reward. If we also take what they have earned, we are punishing them twice. They might also be subject to classroom or campus based consequences that apply to all students.
Start on the Bright side
Having a daily question that you can pose to students is a simple optimistic opener that can be done easily and without a lot of prep work.
One way to do this is with themed days.
Motivation Monday- Post a motivational quote and have students share about what they think it means.
Talk about it Tuesday- Ask an open ended question such as what their favorite restaurant, games, or animals are.
Would you rather Wednesday- Ask a different "Would you rather" question.
Think about it Thursday- Share a riddle for them to solve.
Fast Fact Friday- Share an interesting fact and have students discuss.
