This special edition newsletter is to confirm that your enrollment selection is In Person Learning. This means that your student will be present in building at Southwest Middle School 5 days a week beginning Monday, March 29th.

Below you will find a calendar for the first two weeks of In Person Learning, and some common questions and their answers.

Please let us know if you have any questions that have not been answered or if this enrollment selection is incorrect.

We are so excited to have your students with us 5 days a week and thank you for your continued support.

What will the schedules look like?

• We will be working on an Odd Even block schedule rotation, including Wednesdays.

What is an Odd Even schedule?

• Odd days your students will attend 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th hour classes.
• Even days your students will attend 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th hour classes.

When can my student enter the building?

• Classes begin at 8:00 am, the building opens for students at 7:50 am and 7:30 am for those students wanting breakfast

Where will my student need to enter the building?

• Students wanting breakfast should enter through the auditorium doors.
• All other students should enter and exit through their assigned grade level entries.
• 8th Grade - Front Entry
• 7th Grade - Library Door
• 6th Grade - Auditorium Doors
• All students will have their temperature taken and hand sanitizer available to be used.

What time will my student be released?

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays - 3:05
• Wednesdays (early release) - 1:35

What will my student need to bring?

• Your student will need to have their Bulldog Binder, iPad, Water Bottle and Mask every day.
• In the past we (as a school) we have been able to purchase bottled water as back up for students who have forgotten their water bottle; unfortunately, going forward, this will not be an option.
• Students will have access to water fountains for refilling their own bottles, however spigots have been removed or turned off as a COVID safety measure.

Late Arrival and Early Pick Up

• Any students arriving after 8:00 am should enter through the front office to sign in and be provided with a hall pass.
• Students needing to leave early will need to have an approved adult come into the front office to sign them out.
• A signature is require for checking students out; if you prefer to not enter the building a signed and dated note explaining the reason for checking your student out is acceptable.
