Meningitis Immunization Booster Clinic - March 1st
Dear Parent or Guardian,
If your Senior is getting ready to go to college or another institution of higher learning and will be needing a Meningitis booster, Parker County Hospital District will be here on March 1, 2017 to administer the Meningitis immunization for those who want it.
An information letter and consent in English and Spanish are linked below.
Feel free to contact Mrs. Brownlee in the clinic or Mrs. Hoffman in J226 if you have any questions. It is very important that your student return the completed consent form with a copy of current shot record to the clinic or J226 by Monday, February 27th.
Prom - April 22nd IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Tickets are on sale for $60 through February. Please buy them early. Tickets will go to $75 March 1 - 31st, then go to $100 April 1 - 19th.

Cheerleading try-outs are coming up on March 10th!
If you are interested in trying out for cheerleader, mascot, cheer manager, or cheer guard , then see Ms. Briggs in room K108. There will also be some try-out packets in the front office!

One last note is that Freshman Camille Fournier beat the #1 state ranked girl at her weight which makes her the #1 girl in the state at 102 lbs. now.
Kangaroo Relays Boys Results
Kangaroo Relays - Girls Results
This Saturday WHS hosted the Kangaroo Relays at Kangaroo Stadium. The weather was beautiful and the Lady Roos represented well! The varsity girls finished 3rd out of 12 teams and the JV finished 8th.
Top varsity performances include:
Sadie Carey (Tharp)- 2nd in 1600 and 3200
Hanul Lewis- 3rd in 1600 and 3200
Francine Merchant- 1st in 300 hurdles and 2nd in High Jump
Jayla Schultz- 2nd in long jump
4 x 100 Relay placed 3rd (Tatum Wright, Sydney Bowman, Dayla Robertson, Jayla Schultz)
4 x 400 Relay placed 3rd (Sydney Bowman, Paige Bevers, Mayra Delgado, Julie Griffin)
UIL Band Regional Solo & Ensemble Awards
7 students received a 1st division superior rating on a class 2 solo of intermediate difficulty.
60 students received a 1st division superior rating on a class 1 solo of advanced difficulty. Of these 60 students, 33 are advancing to state (last year 27 advanced to state).
66 students received a 1 on a class 1 ensemble of advanced difficulty and will advance to state. Ensembles typically consist of 3 to 6 students. Last year, 58 students advanced.

Power Lifting Team Results
The boys and girls power lifting teams travelled to Saginaw High School two weekends ago to compete in their invitational. On the boys side, Peyton Hetrick, Braden Robertson, Jake Beaird, and James McAfee all placed 1st in their weight class. Reynaldo David Valenzuela and Ethan Meese each placed 2nd in their weight class, while Kylen Hart, Carlos Amaro, Elijah Dean and Jonathan Renteria placed 3rd in their weight class.
The girls also had an impressive showing with four girls placing 1st in their weight classifications. This included Lauren Gilliam, Morgan Dunn, Lauren Galindo, and Guadalupe Solórzano. Autumn Handley placed 2nd in her weight class.
Then this past weekend, the girls traveled to Forney, Texas to compete in the their invitational. The team did a great job with most of the girls reaching new personal bests. Weatherford qualified three girls for the regional meet in Cedar Hill this coming Friday. Lauren Gilliam, Morgan Dunn and Guadalupe Solorzano will be representing the Roos.

Daughters of the American Revolution Award
UIL Young Film Festival Results
Two students in the UIL Young Film Festival have advanced to the State Quarter Final Round. The two students are:

In the competition there were 900 entries and 355 have qualified for the Quarter Final Round.
The name of their film is called the "Intelligence Project". The film is a narrative where In the near dystopian future, a young woman named Fai remembers her past experience as an eleven year old prodigy. Her traumatic experience as a child included being neglected by her uncaring mother, who entered a contract of surrogacy for the United States government. This contract intended to advance intelligence in children through genetic manipulation. When Fai is kidnapped by her own mother in exchange for the financial compensation promised to her, she will have to make a difficult and life changing decision.
Judges remarks included:
Really unique story. Very creative. Well acted. Great cinematography, great angles, locations, props. Great sound effects, music and editing. Very well done.
