RCSA Monthly Bulletin

Welcome to a new school year at River City Science Academy! At the end of every month, we will send our monthly bulletin to keep you informed about what we've been up to at each of our four campuses. August has been an interesting and exciting month for us all. Our principals and admin worked hard all summer to make sure we were ready to kick the school year off on August 20th. We are thankful that with a little bit of patience and understanding, we've had a great start to the school year! We couldn't have done it without such supportive families and hard-working teachers. This year will be different and we will miss all of the fun events, special guests, field trips, and more that we look forward to every year. However, we know that this will be a school year to remember and we are so excited to be back!

Concern over coronavirus can make children and families anxious. Helping children cope with anxiety requires providing accurate prevention information and facts without causing undue alarm. Here are some helpful resources to help with coping from RCSA Mandarin's School Counselor, Ms. Schrank.

Community organizations and businesses are able to partner with us in a variety of ways and you can be a great connection! We are flexible and willing to discuss many different ideas, such as sponsorships, volunteering, mentoring, discounts, and more. Our goal is to establish a partnership that helps everyone involved! Our hope is that you are able to receive more business and/or relationships through connecting with our teachers and other families. SLA Management, our school cafeteria service team, is providing a Curbside Meal Pick-Up program to offer students access to meals even when they are learning remotely. Pick up is between 9:00-10:00 On Mondays and Thursdays. To serve our school community best, they are asking all families to fill out a short survey. The survey answers will help them gauge how many meals to prepare. Your answers will not commit you to a choice if you choose to participate or stop participating at any time.

Students returned to school, either virtually or in-person on August 20th. Despite the changes, everyone was able to adapt and work together for a successful start to school.

We are proud to be an Emerging State School of Character by Character.org and are working towards earning our State School of Character Certification. Implementing a strong character education program is an important part of K – 12 education and is very important to us at RCSA. Each month, students across all grades and campuses will be learning about the same character trait of the month. This means that they can share and discuss with their friends and siblings who may not be in the same grade as them. We encourage families at home to discuss the character traits and further explore them with your students! Character traits for the month of August are Responsibility and Respect.

We want to take the time to thank our amazing teachers for their work this year. It is a hard time for many of us right now and they are truly all heroes. We will all pass these challenges together and we are so thankful to have an amazing group of teachers here to support our students.
