Please place your orders online or have your student return their form (sent home last week) to their homeroom by September 25. September 25-Oct 5 | West Fall Map Assessments
Each year, Midview students take MAP assessments in the fall, winter, and spring. During the last week in September (DATES) and the first week of October (DATES) West students will take their Fall MAP Assessments in math (grades K, 3 & 4) and reading (grades 3 & 4). MAP assessments measure students’ understanding and academic growth throughout the year while tracking their progress from previous years. MAP data also helps our teachers better understand their students' various learning needs. Our West teachers do a great job facilitating student goal-setting and celebrating our students' success!
September 28 | Fourth Grade Family Picnic | 6-7 p.m.
Calling all fourth-grade families! Meet us on the West playground for a fun family picnic to celebrate the start of the school year and the fall season. Families are encouraged to bring their own dinner/snacks and a blanket to sit on. Kona Ice (cash/credit) and Marco’s Pizza (cash only - $2) will be available for purchase.
September 26-29 | Youth Cheerleading Camp

September 29 | PTA Competition with Keystone Concludes
Our competition with Keystone PTA will conclude next Friday! The district with the highest percentage of family and staff memberships by Friday, September 29 will be crowned PTA champion. The losing school's principal will have to wear the winning school's colors for a spirit day in October. Join PTA today to be involved in our schools and to give back to our teachers and kids.

Please plan accordingly. We’ll see students back on Monday, October 9!
October 13 | NEOEA Day (No School)
Midview Local Schools will be closed for NEOEA Day on Friday, Oct. 13. We’ll see students back on Monday, October 16!
Veterans Day Yard Signs
- As part of the district's Veterans Day celebrations this year, we would like to extend our gratitude to those who have served with a custom "thank you" yard sign. With the help of staff and families, we hope to identify veterans in our community so they may receive a sign. If you know a veteran who would be comfortable with home delivery and lives within the Midview Local School District, please fill out this form. Members of the MHS Key Club will deliver signs the week of October 16-20. Signs will also be available for pick up at the Grafton VFW on October 19 from 5-6 p.m. and Trunk or Treat on October 30 (no prior registration required).
Feature Stories
Mrs. Rozanski's Class
Mrs. Rozanski's third grade class had a wonderful start to the year! Typically the beginning of the year brings fun activities for getting to know each other, but in the third grade they took it a step further. The class focused on their cultures and how sharing cultures and traditions can impact our community. They read several background stories, and found many texts where characters shared their traditions. Mrs. Rozanski's third graders also began their first writing piece, a personal narrative, where they will use one of those traditions as their focus. The students are looking forward to sharing out their interview projects that they are completing at home, as well.
Fun in STEM Class
The third grade students started off the year with an introduction to engineering during STEM. The students used the engineering design process to design and build a structure for "Harry" to see around the classroom. Next, they were able to test their designs to see if they were successful.
The fourth grade classes got back into the swing of things in STEM with a problem-solving escape room. They had to solve puzzles and unlock three boxes in order to earn a sweet reward!
Third & Fourth Grade Parents - please sign up for Class Dojo for STEM in order to see what is happening in the classroom each week.
