TALLMADGE TALK
September 2022
Message from Mrs. Walker
Thank you for being patient with our car pick up lines. The lines are moving smoothly and we are getting the students out to the cars quickly. Remember our kindergartners just started so we need to let them and our kindergarten parents get used to the pick up line. I appreciate the cooperation with the placards. We want everyone safe. Thank you for working with us to make this happen.
Just a reminder- school starts at 8:55. Please make sure that your child is at school on time. We eat breakfast and begin our Second Step lessons right away. All grades are working on building a positive school community. We are reviewing our expectations in all areas of the building and practicing RRS- Be Respectful - Be Responsible - and Be Safe.
If you are tardy, please bring your child into the foyer of the front office and sign your child in. If your child will be absent for the mornign or the day, please call the office first thing in the morning to report this.
We have several new teachers at Tallmadge. Joining the extraordinary Tallmadge team and making Tallmadge the place to be is Mrs. Altrip in kindergarten, Mrs. Chaffin and Ms. Lowe in second grade, Mrs. Betz, Mrs. Anderson in fourth grade, Ms Black in Art and Mr. Azbell in PE. Ms Simms, Ms Bailey, Ms. Johnson, and Ms Allison are serving our students as support staff. We are so happy to have these amazing people join our team.
Welcome to Tallmadge- It's going to be a great year!

Technology Protection Fund
The Technology Protection Fund will be offered as an opt-in program . The opt-in form must be received by the office no later than October 1, 2022. If not returned by October 1st, the student/parent are liable for any and all repair costs. The agreement is located in the student handbook. You have also received a paper copy of the agreement that was sent home with students.
Tech Tips from Mr. Allison
This may not apply to every student, as some teachers (typically in the younger grade levels) may choose not to send Chromebooks home with students.
Students who DO take their Chromebooks home with them need to charge their Chromebooks every night. This is crucial to each student being able to utilize their Chromebook for classroom lessons as well as weekly tech lessons. When coming into a room and there are three or four or five students (or more) whose Chromebooks are dead or dying, that only distracts from the lesson and detracts from the overall activity we are trying to do on any given day.
Additionally, just as important, if not more so: students MUST bring their Chromebook chargers with them every day. I cannot stress this enough. A number of students say “My mom or dad said I need to leave it at home.” That is incorrect; while parents might say this, it is imperative that students bring their chargers with them. Classroom teachers do not have spare chargers to hand out, and students should NEVER be borrowing chargers from one another, as it is much too easy to get them mixed up and/or forget to return them to their original owner. When the dust settles at the end of the school year, any student who has lost a charger will be charged for replacement of that charger - and every single student was given a charger along with their Chromebook, so the excuse “I never got one” is simply not true. Please have students charge their Chromebooks and bring their chargers with them to and from school. They even have pockets in the front of their Chromebook cases specifically for transporting their chargers. These things - charging their Chromebooks and bringing their chargers with them every day - are each student’s responsibility. We have gone over this in tech class, and I will continue to remind them, but it needs to be reinforced at home as well.

JR High and High School Bus Issues
When you are picking up your Tallmadge children, keep in mind that the Jr High and High School bus students are trying to get through Talmadge Ave. The bus drivers cannot get the Jr High and High School students to their bus stops due to our car pick up blocking the bus stops. The elementary car pick up starts at 3:25. Please do not start lining up until 3:00. This time will allow all traffic to move smoothly.
