MST Weekly Update
December 22, 2023

Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
As 2023 comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone who is celebrating the holidays a wonderful holiday season.
Next week is vacation week. School is scheduled to resume on Tuesday January 2, 2024 and it will be a White Day. Wow, it's so hard to believe that it is 2024. Somebody said to me today that we are nearly a quarter of the way through the 21st century! It seems like yesterday we were worried about the beginning of the century and Y2K.
This will be a good week for our students to relax if they are all caught up on work, and if they are behind, they can hopefully take some time to get work completed so that they are back on track. After the break, we will be looking at all of the students who have late arrival and early dismissal, and if they are significantly behind, they will be scheduled to be in the building to catch up on work rather than coming in late or leaving early.
Anything But Hair!
This week, students in Cosmetology participated in the annual holiday tradition, Anything But Hair: Students were tasked to use unconventional materials to create a hairstyle on a manikin as well as paint the manikin faces and create a promotional display board for marketing their skills.
There was also a Nail Art Display. Students were asked to create 5 nail art designs and a promotional display for marketing their skills.
Congratulations to this year's winners:
Anything But Hair
1st place Jennifer Hernadez, Memorial
tied 2nd place: Aaron Patten, MSTHS & Faithe Lisee, MSTHS
3rd place: Caitlin McPhee, Goffstown
Nail Art Display:

Elf
Mr. Lord's video classes spent the couple weeks leading up to the holiday break in the spirit of the season. Learning Multi-camera production. Students shot a scene from the movie "Elf" taking turns playing characters from the movie, operating cameras, microphones, and other production equipment and then learned how to edit in multi-cam mode in their video editing software. A link to a student example is attached below
FAFSA Is Coming!
Attention Class of 2024! We have received word that the FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will open on December 31st, 2023 instead of earlier as had been planned. Please make sure you start your FASFA ID (how to video using this link How to Create an Account and Username (FSA ID) for StudentAid.gov (youtube.com)) in the next few days because it takes 3-5 days to process. Granite Edvance is available to help families navigate the application. You can schedule an appointment through this link https://calendly.com/graniteedvance
This year, all NH seniors are required to complete the FAFSA form, or file a waiver form, in order to receive a diploma. After the vacation, I will have a form that needs to be completed stating the date you submitted the FAFSA form, or stating that you request a waiver from the FAFSA. As soon as that form is available, we will distribute it to all of the members of the Class of 2024 and I will include it in a future newsletter.
