A Message from Meridian School District
Dear families,
Sexual health education lessons will be delivered to seventh and eighth grade students in May. Eighth grade lessons will take place during CCR and PE class periods May 20 through May 27. Seventh grade lessons will take place May 31 through June 3 during Spanish and PE classes.
Parents and guardians may review the Positive Prevention Plus curriculum and may remove their children from these lessons with a written request. (RCW 28A.300.475). Copies of the waiver form are available at school offices and on our website.
Parents/guardians may review the materials in-person from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 or from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4 in the Professional Development Room at Meridian School District, 194 W. Laurel Road.
Families unable to attend the evening hours may also arrange to view materials at the District Office between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please contact Shelby Raga, (sraga@meridian.wednet.edu) secretary in the Department of Teaching and Learning to arrange.
This message is also available in Smore and on our website.
7th and 8th grade parents: Correction regarding sexual health education lessons
These classes will be taught by our PE teachers ONLY and not the CCR and Spanish teachers. Sorry for the confusion.
Please return the opt out form to the Middle School office by 5/13.
Thank you!

MHS Music Program Registration Information
Meridian High School Music - Registration
Incoming 9th Grade and Parents
Registration is here!
The choirs and bands are alive and well at Meridian High School and a WONDERFUL place to be. There is a place for you in the high school bands and choirs.
Being a part of this department provides a support system to help make your transition to high school much easier. In band and choir, there are performances, travel, a lot of social events - you become a part of our musical family.
If you are a part of concert choir or symphonic band, you have the option of auditioning for our chamber choir and jazz band. (it's not a scary audition, don't worry!)
For more info, take a look at this document about each of our programs
Music Department Info – Google Doc
Please consider adding symphonic band or concert choir as your FIRST CHOICE of electives. Please feel free to email me with any questions about the bands and choirs, or if you have any questions regarding conflicts. I can help you - we can make almost anything work!
Visit the music department website in the coming weeks for more information about our programs.

A note from Coach Rowley and Coach Smoot:
For game days, 8th grade is scheduled to start at 3:30 (except for the two games in bold above), 7th grade at 5:00. With travel times for teams, these are very optimistic start times. I just want to make everyone is aware that 8th grade game will start ASAP after teams arrive and warmup, 7th grade games will start 15 minutes after the 8th grade game is complete. Games will have a 1 hour 30 minute time limit where no new innings will be started. The league does have run limit mercy rules, so games could get over prior to the time limit.
