" GO LIGHT OUR WORLD" #GLOWEICS Sept 29th, 2023
PRAYER FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION DAY
Heavenly Father, open our eyes to the injustices brought against Indigenous peoples through residential schools. Make us people of integrity and bearers of hope, that we may commit to restoring relationships and journeying together to a place of peace in you. Through you, may we be your hands and feet to spread love, kindness, and acceptance in the world around us. Give us one heart and one mind to walk together in the love and strength of your Spirit, in truth and reconciliation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord,
Amen
NATIONAL TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION DAY
HOW DID ORANGE SHIRT DAY COME TO BE?
The “orange shirt” in Orange Shirt Day refers to the new shirt that Phyllis Webstad was given to her by her grandmother for her first day of school at St. Joseph’s Mission residential school in British Columbia. When Phyllis got to school, they took away her clothes, including her new shirt. It was never returned.
The message that Phyllis wants to pass along on Orange Shirt Day — and every day — is that every child matters. Orange Shirt Day was started by Phyllis to educate people about residential schools. It is a day to affirm that every child matters.

Catholic School review information- your input is important!
September 18th, 2023
Dear Parents of St. Patrick’s School Community,
During the 1st week of October (October 3 - 5), we will be conducting a Catholic School Review in your school community. The purpose of this process of gathering, analyzing and synthesizing information is to assist in strengthening the School Education Assurance Plan that continues to move and improve your school in the area of Catholicity. Our ultimate goal is to support faith formation and impact student learning.
This process involves gathering data and evidence through surveys, interviews, documentation reviews, and general observations. To make this a success, we need your assistance.
What can you do to help us with the process?
Talk to your children about their school experience and how they can contribute to the process by speaking with the review team or by taking a survey during this week. All grade 3 and grade 4 students will be surveyed and some of them will be chosen to be interviewed.
Let us know if you would be willing to have a short interview with a member of the team. This can be conducted in person or by phone during the day and into the early evening.
As a St. Patrick’s parent, please take time to fill out the parent survey at:
https://forms.gle/oe8uPXX4KNgdw87C6
The survey is now available until 9 a.m. October 2nd, 2023..
If you have any questions or concerns about the process, please contact your school administration or contact me at 587-745-2012 or by email at therese.decgood@eics.ab.ca.
