A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Halloween is coming and there have already been some questions and conversation. I wanted to get this out to you all early on so you can plan ahead!
1. Parade and Assembly: We would love to invite families to an 8:30 AM parade and short assembly following. Students in grades K-4 will be parading around the school. These are the two events that all family members will be invited to attend during the day.
3. Parties: When planning, keep in mind the following recommendations from the Wellness Committee for all parties:
• one homemade treat avoiding artificial dyes and/or high fructose corn syrup
• one or two healthy snacks (a great way to get creative with colorful fruits and vegetables)
• one moving activity (relay race, tossing, balancing, wrapping friends in toilet paper)
• one artistic craft as an option
• keep in mind RES efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle
4. Costumes: Students may wear costumes, but weapons (even toys) are not allowed. Gruesome costumes depicting blood are also not allowed.
We do ask that room parents/guardians email the teacher and Lori Flint all food choices a week ahead so there are no surprises and Mrs. Flint can process whether these are safe for all students in a particular class. Please email her if you have questions! lfint@sau50.org
Thank you for your support,
Michelle Pitts
Drop Off Support
1. Using blinkers to indicate if you are going right to drop off in the front or left if you are dropping off at Leaping Lizards as you come down the driveway
2. PLEASE STOP if you see a stop sign!!!
3. Refraining from using cell phones as you enter the school drive
Please know when we send these messages, we are only thinking about the safety of our students and staff, as well as avoiding accidents in the parking lot.
"Of the Day" Day
At the golf tournament, some students won the auction for an experience to spend the day as one of our Unified Arts of Office Staff members. If you are one of those families, the date is October 14. Your child should wear comfortable shoes/clothing and be prepared for an EXHAUSTING day :)! The students will spend some time with their class that day and will be able to share their experience with their classmates. If there are any "special directions" for your child, the teacher will reach out. Thank you for your support!
Support from Mrs. Arsenault
Hello Parents!
My 7 year old daughter shared, through tears, a social challenge she is experiencing with friends at school. I felt a little helpless, because I am not there to see what exactly is going on and I don't know all the players involved. I encouraged her to speak to her teacher or her guidance counselor, but I was wishing I could help her a little more with this process of advocating for herself. This made me think about you.
I want to remind you to use the Counselor Referral Form if your child is sharing concerns or stressors with you at home that you feel may be important for me to know about. I strongly encourage you to fill this form out WITH your child. You can always email or call me...but this is another way that you can communicate with me...a way that empowers your child.
Hope this helps you sleep a little more peacefully at night!
Mrs. Arsenault
