Dear Springer Families,

Oh, another year of watching our children grow and experience so many good memories. From the Hoe Down to the Walk A Thon; enjoying our children’s enthusiasm over buying and reading their books at the Book Fair; giving to others through Springer Gives Back and the Walk for Water; watching their faces as they shared their classrooms with you during Open House; and creating lifelong friendships through play both at school and in our neighborhood. Indeed, what a special school Springer is for our children and community. We as a staff wish our sixth graders only the best as they experience the next chapter in their lives. We will miss them! And, we are looking forward to seeing all our returning children to enjoy another year of growing and learning. Welcome to our new Kindergarteners next year. We are very excited to have you join our outstanding school.

Paul and I have summer plans to enjoy our grandkids this summer and brave Disneyland with them, without their parents. Can’t wait to spoil them! I wish you a summer filled with fun and laughter, making those memories that your children will remember for a lifetime.

Please join us for the Springer Back-To-School Coffee, right after drop-off on the first day of school in the multi. Meet other parents, catch up with old friends after the summer, and learn about various volunteer opportunities at Springer. We will be highlighting many of the opportunities to get involved while serving coffee and treats, no commitment necessary. Choose the time commitment that works (with your schedule, for this year-no pressure!). Even a few hours of your time can make a difference for our Springer community. We look forward to seeing you! Playdate for ages 4 and under on June 29, 10am-12pm, McKenzie Park

Here’s something for the little ones among us. We’ve started a Springer Play-to-K group for ages 4 and under. It will meet every other month starting on Saturday, June 29. Why wait until Kindergarten to make life-long friends? Please mark your calendars for this event and email your Springer Ambassadors (springer_ambassadors@lasdschools.org) if you would like to help advertise this event at your child’s preschool.

Springer School was first to create yard signs to show off how much we love our neighborhood schools. LASD liked the idea so much, they copied it! Now, their signs are available to anyone who wants one, including community members and alumni. Please fill out this google form if you would like a yard sign. (https://tinyurl.com/springer-yard-sign). We will try to distribute them such that they have the most impact, but there are enough for everyone. Contact your Springer Ambassadors if you have any questions (springer_ambassadors@lasdschools.org).

If you have an article to submit to the Springer Buzz, please send it to the editor at springer.buzz@gmail.com by noon on Monday for inclusion in the next edition. Late arrivals will be included if possible but can’t be guaranteed! All flyers must be in either WORD or PDF format, accompanied by a brief summary of the activity in the email.
