Mustang Minute
Friday, October 7th
From the Principals' Offices
This past week was a GREAT one! Not only did we enjoy some fantastic dress up days to get into the Homecoming spirit, but we also kicked off our October Safety Month with a focus on Bullying Prevention. Students engaged in several activities to facilitate discussions on kindness, inclusion and bullying. Some of our 8th grade students even stepped outside of their comfort zones, voluntarily having lunch with students not in their immediate "friends" group. At BMS, the week ended with a short all-school assembly for some fellowship and to give prizes to students who turned in their Parent/Student Talking Points About Bullying sheets.
This coming week is Fire Prevention Week! Bloomfield Genoa City Fire & Rescue will be coming in to both BES and BMS to discuss fire safety within grade-level mini assemblies. This year's is "Fire won't wait, plan your escape." Students will learn just how quickly a fire can grow and how they can equip their homes to be prepared in the event of a fire.
Thank you for filling out your requests for dates/times for Parent Teacher Conferences. A member of our school will reach out to you within the coming weeks to give you your firm appointment time.
Have a fantastic weekend, Mustangs!

FROM THE CLASSROOM...
What's Happening in Mrs. Brenek's Class?
What's Happening in Ms. Oteman's Class?
Ms. Oteman's small group is participating in self awareness by concentrating on a positive self concept. Daily, we talk about or do an activity that expresses positive attributes and attitudes we have within ourselves and how we use this without even thinking. Our shadow cutouts represent each student, having a word cloud of positive attributes that make them unique. A positive self concept is key for students to feel confident in every aspect of their day. During the school year we will participate in a variety of activities promoting a positive self worth. This sense of self concept is directly related to how they use self awareness, actions, and thoughts involving others, and the effect they have on their immediate environment.
