Chester Elementary School

Hello December, indeed! Lots of snow and cold on Day 1. A reminder to you that our primary form of communication to parents is through Parent Square. I strongly encourage you to get the app on your phone if you haven't done so already. This is the most convenient and efficient way for you to receive immediate communication from teachers, me and the PUSD district office, particularly now that Winter is solidly here.

Construction update: our new bathrooms are ready for use next Monday! Big moment. Everyone has been pretty patient and we appreciate it. The portable bathrooms go away next week as well.

Report card update: report cards will go out a week from today. Thanks for your patience here. The format is totally new and has required an excessive amount of teacher time to prepare them for you. This, coupled with the Thanksgiving vacation, resulted in the need for extra time.

By the way, these two pictures feature a couple of great local tradesmen. The welder is Pete Neely (former CES parent, current CES grandparent...Almanor Auto & Welding) and the electrician is Shane Branch (former CES parent and CHS parent...Branch Electric). So good to have them and other CES parents and locals on the job!

Since we're highlighting parents, the snow plow driver is Michelle Payton, a CES parent (Dig It Construction). We're well taken care of!

We are hiring! CES has an amazing educational team. We have been very fortunate to hire some great staff recently, but we still have immediate openings for the following positions:

• Nurse/LVN (full time, Chester/Greenville)
• English Learner aide (2 hrs./day)
• Paraeducator/instructional aide (5 hrs./day)

Jen Loranger, originally from Los Angeles, joined the CES team in 1998. Jen, our Cook Manager, moved to the area with her family when they purchased a local gas station.

Jen, a staff member for the last 24 years, loves Chester Elementary School! She loves the kids and the staff. Jen enjoys how friendly, kind, and unique everyone is. She also enjoys that her job is different everyday and she is excited about the CES kitchen being remodeled.

In her free time, Jen loves traveling to Costa Rica. She enjoys the beautiful water, amazing people, and awesome food. Jen also loves dogs, the color green, and eating tacos and pizza.
