Hatherly Happenings

A HUGE shout out to Mr. Puzzangara for coordinating all of our field day stations and Mrs. Nyberg for her assistance! Thank you to our fabulous PTO for funding water, popsicles, and all the inflatable sport stations, WOW! Thank you to Mrs. Long for scheduling all of our fun family volunteers! It was so great to see all our families filter in and out throughout the day! It was truly a terrific day had by all!

On Thursday morning we started our day by celebrating our fifth graders who are leaving Hatherly and moving up to middle school. We started our celebration by welcoming parents and caregivers at 9 a.m. with coffee provided by the PTO. Our students did a fantastic job speaking during their celebration and we know they are ready for the middle school! The day continued with a special pizza and ice cream lunch and a staff vs. fifth grader kickball game! A special thank you to the Fifth Grade Farewell Committee for all of their time and effort put into this special celebration. They did a beautiful job decorating the blacktop, creating a special photo class gift, and a memorable video highlighting all of the years fifth graders were at Hatherly.

Over the past month, students in third grade have been working diligently to complete an extensive animal research project. They read resources about their animal, identified important subtopics, used sticky notes to mark important information, took notes on notecards, and eventually wrote their research paper. Additionally, they tapped into their artistic abilities and created fabulous sculptures of their animals with Mrs. Berton; to top it off, they created a habitat for their animals using shoe boxes, paint, and a variety of other materials. On Friday, they presented all their hard work to their families and classmates. Wow! We are so proud of you, Third Graders!

Thank you to our 2021-2022 PTO Board members for your dedication to the families and community of the Hatherly School. You have provided funding for all our field trips, special presentations and assemblies, t-shirts, popsicles, sports inflatables at field day, new recess equipment, a clear touch screen for the cafeteria, staff luncheons, appreciations and gifts! THANK YOU!

This year, all Hatherly students have the option of completing the attached scavenger hunt as they read over the summer. If they return a completed scavenger hunt in the fall, their name will be entered into a drawing for fun prizes!

On Friday students were able to go to the book swap and take home a free book to read over the summer!

Enjoy reading your book this summer! If you finish your book and would like another, return your book to Hatherly School and pick a new book at our book exchange on July 12th from 9am to 11am!
