Mountain View Weekly Update
September 29
Updates & FYIs
- Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:7C-6.6, school districts must, by October 1 of each year, provide parents specific information on State assessments or commercially developed standardized assessments that may be administered during the school year. Information about those assessments can be found on the district website HERE.
- Students in all grade levels were given a permission slip to participate in a Hispanic Heritage Month cooking class with Fresco Mexican Restaurant in Chester. Although the program will be held at Mountain View, the permission slip, along with a $20 payment (cash or check) must be received by October 6 in order for your child to participate.
- Per Board of Education policy 2430, students must maintain passing grades (minimum 63%) in all classes to participate in Interscholastic Sports. Grades will be checked on October 2, the midpoint of the Fall season, and those students who do not meet the criteria will be ineligible to participate in athletics until their academic performance improves.
- Attention 5th and 6th grade parents: Work habits rubrics and corresponding progress reports were mailed home for review on Wednesday. Please also review the enclosed letter for further details.
- Attention 8th grade parents:
- The West Point field trip permission slip and payment is due October 13.
- Please review the email re: Cotillion (from Mrs. Toth on behalf of the committee) sent on September 23.
- The STEM lab (Mr. Jorgensen's classroom) will be open for students before school, from 8:00 - 8:30, beginning Monday, October 2 for morning study hall. Students reporting to the STEM lab do not need to sign in at the Main entrance; instead, there is a sign-in at the entrance to the lab. Note that students will not be permitted to enter the building and go to the STEM lab after 8:20, and once capacity reaches 25 students, the lab will be closed.
- The after-school Den Hour, from 3:30 - 4:30, begins on Tuesday, October 3. To sign up, students should use the link on Mrs. Toth's Google Classroom. This year, the Lions' Den will be available after school Tuesday through Thursday for students wishing to complete projects, homework, and classwork, and for those students assigned by their teacher to complete missing work.
- Try-outs for the winter sports season will take place November 15-17. Students in grades 6-8 will sign up via a Google Form posted in Mrs Toth’s Classroom. All sports forms are due to Mrs. Austenberg by Friday, October 27. Dr Porter will be in to clear all physicals on Thursday November 2. Please reach out to Mrs Austenberg should you have any questions.
