FY24 School Board Proposed Budget Summary & Impact
On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, the School Board finalized the FY 24 Budget. On April 13, we will present the School Board's approved School Budget to the Town Council for consideration.
It is important to remind everyone of the substantial investments the district has made in these past few years. The district has prioritized a significant portion of its local and grant funding resources to retain and recruit top-notch, highly qualified education professionals and support students' mental health and well-being.
This commitment involved adjusting the wage scales for all district employees and using federal relief funds (ESSER and ARP) to invest in additional staffing. In addition, we are in our second year of transferring those grant-funded positions into the local budget.
There are primarily five drivers of this year's budget:
Increased by negotiated labor contracts with Teachers, AFL-CIO, Non-Contract Employees, and District/Building Administrators
Increases in employee benefits, Insurance, Utilities, and Bus Fuel
Previously Funded COVID/ESSER Positions that continue to be needed and are gradually being moved into the local budget
Increased Student needs for Special Education Services
The Anticipated increase in student enrollment due to new development on Brunswick Landing
