The first quarter of the year is quickly coming to a close and we have much to celebrate at BSE! Our Spell Bowl team was recently announced, along with this year's Percussion Ensemble. Students have been working daily in learning activities that are sharpening skills after returning from summer break. We are proud of the work of our in-person and Online Lion students and look forward to what our next quarter has in store. Our challenge for the next quarter is to consider the "power of yet." As we approach October and November, we encourage our students to keep working towards the goals of growth and to not be discouraged as work becomes more challenging. Each day, set yourself up for success and prime your brain with the power of positive thinking!

STEM FELLOWSHIP

Congratulations to Mrs. Burton for being named an ROI STEM Fellow for 2020! Mrs. Johnson was a former member of the fellowship and recently spoke on the "expert panel" for the opening session. We are proud of our 3rd grade teachers for pursuing innovation and project-based learning!

What's in My Future?

Thank you to our Counseling Department for organizing our first Spirit Week to join with the nationwide focus on College Go! Activities and the pursuit of post-secondary preparation. Students in grades K-5 were able to share their dreams for careers when they grow up, their favorite college teams and military branches.

Salem Community Schools is updating all records and needs a copy of your current proof of address. If you haven't been in touch with our office, please send a copy of any official mail with a current address such as a utility bill, vehicle registration, lease agreement, etc., to tcornwell@salemschools.us or stop by the BSE office. You can also send a copy with your child and a note to the teacher. If you have any questions, please contact our front office at 812-883-3700.
