Tefft families and students we are asking for your support! We have had multiple situations involving fake social media accounts. We are asking families to help us monitor the social media usage of your student and we are asking our students to please not follow these accounts and to help us report these accounts as well. Social media has become a big problem in our building and is causing many issues between our students. Below you will find additional information on social media usage as well as some tips on how you can monitor social media usage.
Please continue to review Infinite Campus for grades, missing assignments and class attendance. If your student is in need of additional support please do not hesitate to reach out to their teachers.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Together we are Tefft Strong!
Best regards,
Celebrating Black History Month!
Families we are asking for your support!
We are looking for your support! Many of the student issues that occur at Tefft are in some way connected to social media. This seems logical given that such a large percentage of our students are on social media. Please help us out by making sure your student is using their social media in a safe way. We are also asking to help us by monitoring their social media, knowing who they follow on their social media, making sure that the content that is being shared is appropriate.
Remind students that if they are following social media accounts with inappropriate behavior, that they are also participating in that behavior as well. Social media has compounded many of these issues because once something is posted, it has the potential to be repeated and reshared forever.
Social media can have other negative effects on your children including anxiety and depression. Social media can negatively impact your student's sleep and self image. The use of social media can also increase the likelihood that your child will be exposed to cyberbullying, which can also negatively impact his/her mental health.
Below you will find some helpful tips on practicing safe social media usage:
