Faction Cross Country
Last Friday we held our Faction Cross Country Carnival here at school. We were very fortunate the weather forecast was correct and the rain cleared. We were left with a beautiful afternoon for the Year 3 to 6’s to run either 1 or 1.5kms. There was some fantastic long distance running by the students and they should be very proud of their efforts.
I would like to thank Mr Bridgeman for his organisation and all staff who helped out on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly. Thank you also to the P&F for selling the icy poles to help the students cool down after their event.
Interschool Cross Country
I wish the Interschool Cross Country runners all the best as they compete against 5 other schools in our region at Tompkins Park tomorrow morning. Parents and family members are able to attend and cheer on our Interschool Team. See you there!
Littlies Lapathon
Our Kindy to Year 2 Lapathon yesterday afternoon was great fun. It was perfect weather and a good way to introduce long distance running to the students. Thanks to Mr B, staff, parents and sports committee for ensuring it ran smoothly.
Queen of Apostles Feast Day
Next Friday we celebrate the feast of Queen of Apostles. We have had a team of staff working out a plan for the day and deciding on some fantastic activities for the students.
The day will start with the Year 5 class leading us at Mass. Mass will start at 9am and parents and friends are welcome to join us. Each class will then rotate through 7 activities where they will learn about the history of our school, complete some craft activities and have some fun. I’m looking forward to what promises to be a great day.
Confirmation
Confirmation will take place on Sunday 5th June at a special 10.30am Mass in the church.
Confirmation is one of the Initiation Sacraments of the Catholic Church and helps the candidates to be united more firmly with Christ. Please keep our Year 6 candidates in your prayers during this time.
Best Wishes
Mark Ryan
Making Jesus Real
The Making Jesus Real (MJR) program emphasises the importance of each person’s ongoing relationship with Jesus. It equips students with the values and skills of gratitude, teamwork and resilience, and it assists us to develop a much better understanding of our Catholic faith by becoming aware of the ways in which the Spirit of Jesus is present in all of us. MJR encourages students to be aware of how we can share this with others through our own simple, everyday actions, as well as noticing and recognising when other people share the Spirit of Jesus with us.
Students at Queenies have begun their MJR journey by looking at the ways in which we can make our school a welcoming place where everyone feels comfortable and included. By reflecting upon how we like people to greet, treat and speak to us, we can become more welcoming to others by making sure we remember to do the same.
Some of the Spirit of Jesus Moments that students have felt grateful for and shared this week are:
· Samantha helped Mary-Jane get up from the ground when she tripped over a tree root. (Martina).
· When I could not play a song on the piano, my mum helped me (Mason).
· My Spirit of Jesus Moment was when I was sick in isolation and Bonnie got all my friends to help her with the ‘Get better soon’ and ‘We miss you’ pic collages that they made for me (Sofia).
· When Senul helped me when I struggled to walk after cross country (Will).
· When me and Felicia were working in a group, she was very kind and helpful (Elianna).
Over the coming weeks, all students at Queenies will be encouraged to notice, share and feel thankful for those moments in their lives when they have sensed the Spirit of Jesus in someone else’s actions. You might like to talk about this with your child at home, too.
