PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families! 🦅✨
We've soared past the midpoint of the school year, and it's time to celebrate some incredible achievements! 🎉 Together, we conquered our reading challenge, logging an impressive 250,000+ minutes of collective reading since September. 📚 Thanks to the PTO, every week a lucky student in each classroom earned a free book, fostering a love for reading and learning among our students. 📖
Our commitment to academic excellence shines through in our iReady assessments, conducted at the beginning, middle, and end of the year. 📊 I'm thrilled to announce that our students demonstrated remarkable growth, with median scores reflecting more than half a year's progress in both Reading and Writing—achieving this milestone in less than half the school year. 🌱 Notably, our focus on Math during teacher professional development has yielded commendable results, showcasing the dedication of our educators. ➕✨
I'm so proud of our students and very grateful for your ongoing support as we guide them to academic success and leadership in our community. 🙌
As Winter Break approaches, I hope you're gearing up for a time of joy, relaxation, and adventures with family and friends. Anticipating our return in 2024, let's continue to foster leadership and learning at Eagle Crest! 🚀✏️
Wishing you a safe and joyful holiday season! 🌟❄️
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENTS' UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
I hope you have a wonderful Winter Break that is happy, safe, and healthy! If you're searching for ways to encourage your children to continue reading and learning during the break, SVVSD offers a lot of great learning apps on student iPads.
Firstly, there's Sora, our digital library boasting almost 37,000 ebooks, audiobooks, and now magazines. Students can easily check out books from this extensive catalog, much like they would from a regular library.
The second option is myON, a digital on-demand catalog featuring over 7,000 books spanning various levels and interests. Every book in myON can be read aloud, and here's an exciting incentive: the top myON readers at Eagle Crest will earn a prize in the district-wide reading challenge! Access to both of these programs is available through ClassLink.
Moreover, there are numerous opportunities for additional learning, creating, and coding available to students on their iPads. Our STEM Teacher, Katy Schwirtz, has created a helpful guide detailing some great apps and how they can be used.
We're eagerly looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school in 2024!

PTO UPDATE
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
We are full of gratitude for our teachers, staff, families, and students. Thank you for making 2023 a stellar year for Eagle Crest! We look forward to seeing you in January and sharing some fun events to come in 2024.
Earlier this month, PTO provided breakfast to staff on Late-Start Wednesday. Thanks to your donations to the Gratitude Fund, we served delicious breakfast burritos, fruit, juice, and more! Each classroom also received a book from their wishlist, thanks to your support! As always, staff is so happy to know that we see and appreciate all they do for our kids.
Wishing you a restful Winter break and a Happy New Year! See you in 2024!
Best,
Katie Lancaster
