Mrs. Watkins' Fourth Grade
Welcome Back Eagles!
Hello Fourth Grade Families!
I cannot believe how fast the summer flew by us! I hope your days were filled with love and laughter and that you were able to make some wonderful memories with your families. Whether you were able to travel and take long vacations, or you relaxed at home enjoying that glorious air conditioning, I hope summer was kind to all of you!
Meet Your Teacher
My name is Angie Watkins and I am so excited to be teaching fourth grade again. I pursued education late in life. After working as a Teacher's Aide for several years at my own children's school, I decided to enroll in college at the wonderful age of 40.Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? During my time as a student, we moved from Enid, Oklahoma (where I was raised and lived most of my adult life) to Wilkesboro, NC. I graduated Liberty University, Suma Cum Laude, in May of 2022, and in August of 2022 I began teaching fourth grade here at WES. I have now lived in Wilkesboro for two years and I am still finding my way, but starting to get more comfortable here. The mountains are always so beautiful.
My husband, LeRoy, is a retired U.S. Army Seargent and currently works at Samaritan's Purse as the Program Manager for Team Patriot. Together we have two children, one son and one daughter. Our son, Tabor, is beginning his junior year at Oklahoma State University (Orange Power!). He is majoring in business with a minor in political science. Our daughter, Teagan, is a freshman at Appalachian State University. She is majoring in education and plans to become a high school English teacher. Both of our children have big dreams and plans on how they can make this world better!
Personally, I love to laugh. If you were to observe my class on any given day, you would probably hear lots of laughter. I do not believe any part of education has to be boring. I love to demonstrate to our class how the things we learn in here can relate directly to our lives outside of school. That connection is usually represented by some crazy story of my silly experiences. I do my best to make our subjects engaging and encourage our class to make their own connections when possible.
I sincerely love teaching. Making connections with students, families, and colleagues are all very important to me. I respect you as the parents and caregivers and I place a high value on the trust you put in me. I appreciate you allowing me to be on your child's team as we work together to guide them down a successful educational path. I look forward to learning and growing along beside them this year!
