Discovery Time

We had an amazing time Friday night supporting the Running Tigers! We are so proud of all the scholars who showed growth on the Math and Reading Benchmarks and so appreciative of the ones who came out to the game.

CFA 3 is coming up and we can't wait to see who will join us in the next incentive.

This Saturday, January 25th from 9am to 1pm, the district will showcase all the wonderful things the district is doing in the area of STEM, at the LISD STEM Showcase. Come out and check out the amazing things our GWC scholars are doing.

Tutorials will continue during school (Tuesday and Thursday) and afterschool. Afterschool tutorials will take place this week. Please note the schedule for afterschool tutorials:

• Monday: Social Studies
• Tuesday: Reading
• Wednesday: Math
• Thursday: Science

Tutorials are held daily from 3:15 to 4:00. Please ensure your scholars are picked up promptly at 4 o'clock. Professors sent out tutorial invitations, however please don't hesitate to make contact if you have any questions about your scholar attending.

Shirts:

White, Red or Blue

Shorts/Pants/Skorts/Dresses/Jumpers:

Khaki, Navy or Black

Belts and ID badges are required to be worn daily.

Wednesdays:

College T-Shirt with uniform bottom.

Fridays:

Detailed information will be given each week regarding Friday’s attire.

Skirts and shorts must be no shorter than two inches above the knee at all times (including free dress days).

Male scholars are allowed to wear earrings

ID badges and belts are a daily requirement

Remember, it is important to come to school daily! We are looking forward to January's attendance raffle. Make sure you're in the game! The daily attendance goal is 97% daily. Check out our percentages last week:

Monday, Jan. 13th: 95.40%

Tuesday, Jan. 14th: 96.29%

Wednesday, Jan. 15th: 97.88%

Thursday, Jan. 16th: 97.35%

Friday, Jan. 17th: 95.23%

Homework is a requirement at GWC. Here at GWC, we feel it is important for scholars to be provided opportunities to practice material at home. Please ensure your scholar is turning in all homework assignments to their professors. Please see the homework schedule below:

• Monday: ELAR
• Tuesday: Math
• Wednesday: Social Studies
• Thursday: Science
• Friday: Electives

Please remember the tardy/dress code infraction policy. For every three tardies and three dress code infractions, a scholar accumulates, Saturday morning detention will be assigned. Detention is from 8am - 9am here at GWC. Parents will be contacted if your scholar is assigned detention. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Ms. Wesson at rickylwesson@lancasterisd.org.

Reminder: The school day ends at 3 o'clock pm. GWC has a controlled release daily, resulting in scholars coming out at various times. Understand, having a staff member come outside and write down names of scholars whose parents arrive early, is a courtesy. Please refrain from entering the building through the side doors to pick up your scholar. No scholars are allowed to be picked up from the office after 2:30pm. No profanity will be allowed in the building. Law enforcement officers will be contacted. If you have any questions or concerns regarding dismissal, please contact Ms. Wesson at rickylwesson@lancasterisd.org.
