Congrats to the Grads
Before we look ahead, we want to send our congratulations to the graduating class of 2021. The students, their families and staff members were able to celebrate in grand fashion on the football field at Reaper Stadium, and it was a beautiful, blustery day. We wish our best to the graduates as they transition to college life, the military, start a family and/or join the workforce. They have persevered through a historical year and have shown they will succeed under any circumstances.
Summer School
The D88 Summer Extension Program (SEP) will begin Monday, June 7th and we will welcome students in grades 1-6 from 7:40-12:30 PM, and students in grades 7-12 from 7:30-12:30 PM, four days a week through July 1st. The SEP will run Monday through Thursday and breakfast, snacks and lunch will be provided for all students. If you need more information, please reach out to your child’s school.
Vaccinations for Students Age 12+
Parents and guardians should have received a separate email with information about COVID-19 vaccinations which are available for students age 12+. Please note that students are not required to be vaccinated to attend school next year, but per the most recent CDC and IDPH guidelines, individuals who are vaccinated are not required to quarantine following close contact to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. Student Registration for 2021-22 School Year
If you have not started the registration process or have not completed registration forms for your student(s) for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year please log into your Powerschool Parent account as soon as possible to complete the registration process. It is important to complete residency requirements in order for your student(s) to be fully registered. If you need help uploading residency documents, you may stop by your student’s school with the documents through Friday, June 11th. Failure to register your student(s) will delay your student’s classroom and bus assignments and Chrome book distribution in the fall. If you have any questions please contact your student’s school.
Watch Your Email for Exact School Times for 2021-22 School Year
As we fine tune school and bus schedules during the summer months, please watch your email and the district website for updates to the school start and end times that were sent out last week. As you know, we will return to school five days a week on Wednesday, August 18th and the times may vary slightly as we confirm bus routes. This is why it is so important that parents complete the registration process today.
Need More Info About Remote Options for Next School Year?
On May 19, 2021, the Illinois State Board of Education adopted a resolution which states, “Beginning with the 2021-22 school year, all schools must resume fully in-person learning for all student attendance days.” The Plano School District Board of Education is fully supportive of this resolution. In addition, the resolution states that remote instruction be made available for students who are not eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine and are under a quarantine order. A quarantine order will be accepted when written by a Physician, Physician's Assistant, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).

The application for remote learning must be submitted to the District Office for review no later than June 22, 2021. District 88 continues to monitor updates from ISBE and IDPH. 7-Day FREE Meal Packs Continue Through the Summer
Beginning June 7th, each Monday throughout the summer, District 88 will distribute FREE seven-day boxes of breakfast and lunch favorites with half gallons of milk. There are no income eligibility requirements and meals are available for ALL children 18-under. Seven-day meal packs are available every Monday at TWO SCHOOLS ONLY – Emily Johns and Plano High School between the hours of 11:30-12:30 PM & 5-6 PM. Check the district website for the drive-thru locations. Don’t miss these opportunities to stock your pantry, fridge and freezer!
