AVA Family UpdateFebruary 17, 2023

Good morning AVA Families,

Trimester 2 progress reports were posted on Wednesday and I hope all of our families had a chance to review it with their student. If you have trouble accessing it, let me know and I can help.

We head into next week's vacation with a half-day for students today. As per usual, it's a great time for students to catch up, and I will continue monitoring email as much as possible during the break. Our schedule is normal when we return and is pictured below.

The usual guidance and community updates are below and I thank you for your time.

Guidance Update

Grades 9-11 - Naviance

This is the last call for students to complete their respective Naviance surveys and journal entries before individual meetings with Ms Nellie to discuss results and reflections, which begin after the Feb. break. Students, even if you have completed your assignments, I recommend logging into your Naviance account anyway to refresh your memory. Please email Ms Nellie (nng@attleboroschools.com) ASAP if you forget your password or have any questions.

Seniors

AHS General Scholarship - Once again, all AVA seniors are strongly encouraged to complete the AHS General Scholarship Googleform HERE. Students must be logged into their Attleborops.net email first. Completing this one form will enable seniors to apply to multiple different scholarships. Please also check the AHS Guidance Dept. scholarship webpage HERE for more scholarships.

FAFSA - Please keep in mind that the Massachusetts state general FAFSA priority deadline is March 1st, so please submit your completed FAFSA before then to ensure you can get the most financial aid possible. HERE is the link to instructions and tips on how to complete the application.

Like most weeks, be on the lookout in your Attleboro student email for the AHS Guidance Dept. senior weekly update that will be emailed separately over the weekend.

As always, please email me at nng@attleboroschools.com with any comments, suggestions, and concerns, or to make a virtual meeting appointment. Have a marvelous weekend and restful break!

Community Updates

All APS Community Fliers can be found within the Welcome Center website. To view this week’s fliers, including information from throughout Attleboro please visit the Welcome Center webpage or click here for current fliers.

Important Information about MassHealth and SNAP Benefits:
In response to the COVID-19, MassHealth put protections in place that prevented members’ MassHealth coverage ending, and qualifying Massachusetts households began to receive extra SNAP at the beginning of each month to buy food. Due to recent action by the federal government, these protections and extra benefits will be ending soon. Please visit the Welcome Center website for more information on what you can do now.
