Golden Acorn Award Nominations Now Open!
PTA is a volunteer-driven organization. One of the ways we recognize the outstanding work of our volunteers, is with the Golden Acorn award.
A Golden Acorn Award is presented by a local PTA or council to a school or community volunteer in recognition of their dedication and service to children and youth. Since the beginning of this program in the 1930s, more than 54,000 Golden Acorn Awards have been presented to volunteers throughout Washington state.
Recipients receive a certificate and pin, and a contribution is made in their name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Program that benefits students.

Please submit your nominations for any individuals who have given exemplary volunteer service to children and youth in our school community this year.
Nominations should be submitted to president@nhe-pta.org no later than June 12th and should include a short paragraph describing why you are nominating them.
Membership Goal Status - 34%
Goal: Every NHE student is represented in PTA by at least
one important adult in their lives.Status: Currently 34% of our students are represented. We are 1/3 of the way there!
There is NO obligation or expectation to volunteer or attend meetings. (But we do LOVE to meet members and find fun opportunities for those that want to help!)
Membership assistance is available. We do not want funds to stand in the way of those that want to join. Please email president@nhe-pta.org to request a confidential scholarship.
Fundraiser Goal Status - 44%
Status: We are 43% of the way to our goal.
And remember to ask your employers about their Corporate Match Plan. Many local employers will match the donation you make up to 100%!
Every dollar contributed to our Pass the Hat fundraiser goes directly to support the programs offered by the PTA. A donation of $100 covers our spending per student, but any amount is appreciated. Every dollar counts!

From the Library
All Library books are due the week of June 6th! Students who clear their accounts by turning in all their books and paying for or replacing lost books by their library day that week will get a SLOTH sticker!
The Annual Library Book Swap is the last full week of school, June 13-17. Bags to collect lightly used elementary level books will be outside classrooms starting THIS WEEK. ALL students will get to take home at least one donated book to keep. The more donations we get, the more books kids get to take home!
From Green Team
City of Bellevue Utilities is offering free, interactive Greener Living live virtual Zoom classes and demonstrations this spring. Attendees will receive a digital kit after each class.

Family Connections - Ana Lewis
Family Connections Centers (FCCs) are open to all BSD students and families. Staffed by Family Engagement Specialists, their mission is to connect families with district and community support services, provide them with educational opportunities to better navigate the school system and help them become engaged in the education of their children.
While our locations are school based, all BSD families are welcome to walk into any center throughout the district for support. We believe that the support and resources provided by our centers and specialists can benefit all BSD students and their families.

Dear NHE families-
By now, you have most likely heard about the tragedy of a shooting at an elementary school in Texas. When something so unimaginable happens in a school, it can bring up many feelings for our children and the adults who care about them, from fear to sadness, and loss. Our hearts are with this community in Texas, and the lives and children who have been impacted by this senseless tragedy.
Some children may be very aware of current events, others less aware, and some may not be aware at all. We want to provide a few resources for you to use at home on how to talk to your children about events like this:

We want to assure you that your child’s safety is our top priority – both their physical and emotional safety. Our Newport Heights staff members are ready to support our students with any of their needs tomorrow and in the days to come.
