Strength. Determination. Knowledge.
Happy Friday!
Dear Families,
I hope this last week has treated you well!
As a quick reminder, we do have a school dress code. Please make sure that when your students are attending in-person they are in uniform. Bottoms can be black, khaki, or navy blue. No jeans, yoga pants, or sweat pants are allowed. Tops must be solid colors only and can be any shade of blue, yellow, white, or black. If you need support purchasing uniform clothing for your scholars, please reach out to us.
As one way to celebrate Black History Month, we are creating a district-wide recipe book! Please send in a recipe with your student by Friday, February 12th. Recipes should include:
The recipe name
Student's name and grade
An explanation or comment about the recipe. Ex. "This recipe has been in our family for x years," or "This is our favorite recipe to enjoy on a cold winter day!"
The recipe might be one you've had passed down for generations, or it might be one you and your child recently enjoyed together for the first time. We're excited to see the many different meals that bring our families joy! Thank you for being apart of this project!

It's Re-Enrollment Time!
Employee of the Month - January
Have you met Ms. Snoddy? She was voted our January Staff Member of the Month by her colleagues! Ms. Snoddy is an incredible part of our GHA family, and she works so hard each and every day to help our scholars make academic and social-emotional gains! She spends the majority of her day supporting our youngest learners in Mrs. Roark's and Mrs. Sutherland's classes. We love you, Ms. Snoddy! Congratulations and well-deserved!
Student of the Month
Our February character trait for Student of the Month is "positivity"! Teachers will be looking for students who show exceptional positivity and the lifting of others throughout the month. Especially during these cold and long days, staying positive and keeping at difficult issues is so important!
Laptop Care and Tips
All of our scholars have received devices for virtual learning. Below are a few tips to ensure the technology devices are not accidentally damaged or lost.
- Ensure the case remains on the iPad or Chromebook.
- Ensure food and drinks are not around the technology devices.
- Ensure scholars are stationary when using the iPad or Chromebook.
- Monitor data usage. (Make sure hotspots are turned off and disconnected when not being used for school work.)
- When lessons have concluded for the day, ensure the scholar places the device in the same location each day.
- Ensure the technology devices are plugged into the charger at the end of the day in order for the scholars to have a fully charged device for the next school day.
