Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Year 9 Knife Crime Workshop
Year 9 students watched a thought-provoking presentation on the dangers of knife crime, discussed myths around it and learned how to report concerns via Fearless, a crime reporting website specifically for young people.
Brit Kids Open Event
The first very successful term of BRIT Kids Saturday classes will be rounded off with a celebration event on Saturday 15th December, to which prospective students and their parents are invited. The Open Event will start at 11.30am at Corby Business Academy.
Year 13 Mock Interviews
Year 13 student Dmitrijs took part in a mock interview with BWT Director, Mr Heneage Stevenson. Dmitrijs travelled to Westminster where he discussed his personal statement and motivation for his chosen courses.

Students:
- Miss Grieves has nominated Rebecca in 7SW for passing her external Piano Exam this week. Also nominated are Year 10 PE students for their excellent motivation and contribution to Handball this term and Year 7 students Ellie and Olivia for a fantastic end of term assessment mark showing excellent progress in Maths.
- Mr Horne has nominated Year 7 students Neave and Shane n Yr 7 for excellent effort in Maths and a fabulous commitment to the study of percentages. Also nominated is Year 9 student Sonny for great statistical thinking.
- Miss Vaghadia has nominated the Year 13 Psychology students for great progress and fantastic mock exam results.
- Miss McGrath has nominated her Year 8 Scientists for having such interesting questions surrounding the DNA and variation topic. This resulted in some fantastic work being produced surrounding why we and other organisms have evolved the way we have.
- Mr Cox has nominated his Year 8 Scientists for excellent work on their mock coursework pieces and excellent practical planning work.
- Mr Cox has also nominated all students and staff supporting the Christmas show case and High School Musical, an excellent commitment and effort.
- Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 10 student Rohan and Year 11 students Maddie and Dominika for their approach to Physics revision.
- Mr Chatfield would like to say congratulations to the year 8 dodgeball team for qualifying for county championships and also thank you Maddie in Year 10 and Oscar in Year 8 for showing great commitment and acting as a role model to other students in PE.
- Mrs Arnold has nominated Year 9 student Alyssa for some excellent contributions to the Humanities student panel.
- Mr Jackson has nominated Year 8 student Oscar for his hard work in Maths.
- Mr Bidwell has nominated the Year 13 students for their hard work on their UCAS statements. Also nominated are the Year 11 Geographers for that achieved or improved their targets and Year 7 student Edvins for his helpfulness in STEM.
- Mrs Morgan has nominated Year 11 Art student Amber for completing all her GCSE Art coursework and also nominated are Year 7 STEM for their amazing ginger biscuits.
- Mrs Prior has nominated Year 11 student Kellie for for exceptional English Language progress and Year 9 students Jack, AJ and Mason for their poetry contributions in class.

Year 7 Hate Crime Workshop
Year 7 students took part this week in a hate Crime workshop working with our PCSO Steve Coles.
Christmas Showcase Food Bank Donations
Our Christmas Showcase is being held on Tuesday 19th December. Tickets can be "bought" with a donation to Corby Food Bank.
Attendance Matters
Every single day a student is absent from school equates to a day lost of learning. At Corby Technical School we pride ourselves in maintaining excellent attendance. Our target is to achieve and maintain a whole school attendance of above 96.5%. We will be giving you weekly updates on our whole school attendance, the tutor group and house who achieved the highest attendance this week.
Whole School Attendance
Attendance this week is 95.21%, short of our target of 96.5%. Lets try and hit the target next week.
Best Tutor Group
Best tutor group are 9S with 99.2 %, well done to Miss Watt and the students of 9S.
House Winner
House winners this week are C House with 95.47%, well done to all in Cayley and Coleman.
Reminders:
- Tickets to the Christmas Showcase are still available and can be purchased from school reception with a donation to Corby Food Bank.
- Wednesday 19th December - we are having Christmas lunch on this day with Christmas activities in the afternoon. Students are permitted to wear normal clothes.
- Thursday 20th December - this is a normal school day and we expect ALL students to be in school.
- Friday 21st December - this is a staff training day and school is closed to students.
