On March 3rd, our new superintendent, Dr. Catherine Van Vooren came to visit East Fallowfield. Our student ambassadors did a great job taking her on a grand tour of our school. The students shared all of the best parts of our building and shared what it's like to be an East Fallowfield student. Thank you to our 4th grade ambassadors: Aiden Phillips, Elia Sotelo-Hernandez, Aubrey Taylor and Clarke Walker for doing such a great job welcoming our superintendent to our building. Welcome back to Coatesville, Dr. Van Vooren!

We are going to have a "Career Fair Day" on Monday March 27th. We are encouraging all students K - 5 to dress as a person in the career that they would like to be when they grow up. Our 5th grade students are working hard this month researching careers and will be presenting a Career Fair in the afternoon on March 27th. Our K - 4th grade students will have the opportunity to walk through and learn about different careers from our 5th graders. 5th Grade families are invited to attend the Career Fair as well. We are looking forward to a fun day!

Our 5th grade girls had the opportunity to go on a field trip to the FLUX Space in Norristown. They participated in team building activities that required them to work together and build the tallest tower that could hold a ping pong ball . All the girls worked cooperatively and built some amazing structures. Some of their towers were so tall they fell over, while others got them to stay upright the whole time. They had a second challenge with the objective of helping women fire firefighters. Their mission was to create something to help them when going into a burning building. As you can see from the pictures, they then had the opportunity to build a phototype in the makerspace of their creation. They had a lot of fun designing, building, and realizing that girls can be engineers too!

On Thursday March 2nd, four 5th grade students attended PMEA (Pennsylvania Music Educators Association) District 12 Elementary Chorus Fest at Phoenixville Area High School. These students worked for several weeks to learn music for the festival, then rehearsed the music with the other 120 students from all over Delaware and Chester Counties for a day filled with music and fun. They ended their day with a concert for friends and family. Allie DiDonato, Chase McConnell, Brielle Milbourne-Shelton and Madasynn Westcott represented East Fallowfield and did a fabulous job! We are so proud of their hard work and dedication to music in our school!

Our newest crop of lettuce is ready to be harvested from our hydroponic garden! Mrs. Billman would like to shout out Zamaya Jones and Allyson Smith who have been working so hard on our school hydroponic garden. These girls showed so much dedication in maintaining the gardens pH levels, nutrient levels, and keeping the garden full of water so the plants could grow. This week Addison Hamilton and Dymere Allen helped with the harvesting of the lettuce. We are so proud of their dedication! The students decided they would love to share the lettuce with their 5th grade classmates. On Wednesday, March 15th the 5th grade students will learn about how the hydroponic garden works and enjoy lettuce and a salad bar.

This year at East Fallowfield we are revamping our PBIS program and focusing on our Big East Expectations of Safety, Ownership, Acceptance and Respect. Last week, students had the opportunity to learn what these expectations look like, sound like, and feel like in different areas around the school including the classroom, cafeteria, playground, bus, hallway, and bathrooms.

Students are so excited to be rewarded for meeting these expectations with Class Dojo points. Parents please be sure to accept the Class Dojo invite from your child's teacher so you can track the great work they are doing in class.
