Due to the forecasted weather, the Gering Public Schools Preschool and Kindergarten Registration Expo is being RESCHEDULED to Tuesday, February 28 from 8am to 7pm at the Gering Civic Center!

2.) Join us for the 2023-24 Preschool and Kindergarten Registration EXPO on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 8am to 7pm at the Gering Civic Center. This is a great opportunity to meet our staff, ask questions, bring in required documents, and explore opportunities for after-school care in the community. Brutus the Bulldog will making several special appearances. All families registering will receive a welcome gift pack!

The end of the third quarter is upon us! Mark your calendars for parent-teacher conferences. All conferences will be held in-person.

Several schools are pre-scheduling conferences in an effort to accommodate wait times and due to the positive feedback we've received. Scheduling links are now live.

Gering Preschool

Also on March 14th from 4:30 to 6:30pm during PT conferences, GJHS will host an onsite immunization clinic for current 6th grade students who will need immunizations in advance of 7th grade.

Gering High School

• Monday, March 13th from 4:00pm to 8:30pm
• Tuesday, March 14th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm

• Teachers will be in their classrooms
• Trades teachers will be in the GHS Commons

Please Note: We have a few teachers with classes at both GJHS and GHS (Mr. Boyd & Ms. Hauck). On Monday both will be available at GHS and Tuesday at GJHS.

Wednesday, March 8th GPS will institute a modified early release school for ALL PreK-12 students and school will release students at 12:30 p.m. During that morning, GHS and GJHS will adjust the daily bell schedule and teachers will provide individualized academic support for students who need additional help and/or time to complete work before the end of 3rd quarter.

FAQs

• Lunch will be served at schools prior to the release
• Buses will run regular end of day transportation routes at 12:30pm
• The YMCA After-School Program at Lincoln will begin serving registered students at 12:30pm.
• GHS students STILL NEED TO ATTEND their WNCC dual credit courses and work-based learning placements, as scheduled.

• JoAnn Wilson - GHS Business Instructor and one of our Personal Finance course pioneers!
• Penny Hilzer - First Grade Teacher at Northfield who came out of retirement to help us cover a short-term gap as an elementary teacher - we can't thank you enough!
• Linda Miller - Northfield Paraprofessional with 24 years of service to the district!
