Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Well done to Year 8 student Katie W who has qualified for Crufts with her border collie Koko, a huge achievement for someone so young.

Mr Abnett would like to say well done to the Year 9 CCF students for their excellent effort throughout the recent CCF camp. They all applied themselves fantastically.

Maths:
Miss Kaur would like to say well done to the 14 students in 11A1 who went up a grade in in their recent assessments. Well done to the whole class achieving a grade 7 or above so far in the latest assessment. You are working so hard it really is paying off!
Also nominated are 8B1 for excellent discussion during lesson on averages and understanding which average is most effected by outliers, most students completed extension questions and class as a whole are working exceptionally hard. Year 11 students consistently attending Tuesday morning exam practice sessions showing the dedication and hard work they are putting in for their GCSE maths exams, in particular Kian, Theo, Jonathan, Dylan, Jana, Mya, Emma, Rhema, CJ, Dawa, Millie, Georgiana. Finally 9A3 for the enthusiasm shown in box plots topic .
Miss Harrison has nominated Year 7 students Nadia, Roberta, Alfred, Mark, Mia, Melissa and Nathan for their work on comparative bar charts. They completed high quality bar charts with all the correct elements.
Mr Horne has nominated Year 9 students Grace and Kristof who are making great progress with our study of statistics. Also nominated is Year 7 student Courtney who has also made a great start to this term’s study of statistics
Mrs van der Lith has nominated Year 7 students Kaleb and Jessica J who have started this term very well and have done exceptional work on angles this week.
Mrs Wynn has nominated 9A2 and 9A3 for their continued hard work.
Mr Lee has nominated Year 11 student Alfie S and Year 9 student Laura-Lee for an excellent enthusiastic start to lessons this term.

Year 7:
Year 7 have been working very hard on reading notation and playing in parts in their xylophone and glockenspiel project this term. Miss Patrick would like to celebrate 7TA as they were brilliant at reacting to the non-verbal signals this week. This meant that they were able to play for longer as a class, and it was lovely to hear students really listening to the other parts played by their peers - keep up the fantastic work!
Year 8:
This week 8CO began learning about musical theatre and put together a fantastic class performance of 'The Circle of Life' from The Lion King. A special mention to Olivia, Edgars, Loghan and Leighton for being really brave and projecting their voices effectively - excellent work!
Year 9:
This week Year 9 have begun to compose a section of call and response in a samba style. Miss Patrick has been impressed with the way all students have challenged themselves this week to create complex rhythms. In particular, Addison in 9SI and Charlie in 9ST who used the agogo bells creatively and took on a leadership role in their groups - well done!
English:
Mr Toye has nominated Year 10 student Kacper B for an excellent attitude towards learning and always applying himself to challenge.
Humanities:
Miss Forbes has nominated Year 11 students Nikodem C, Jana and Adam S for contributing well in lessons and ensuring they are working to the best of their ability and beyond.
Mr Goddard would like to congratulate 8CO for being really mature and productive in independently producing their presentations this week, as well as a shout out for his tutor group (7ST) for winning the book week door competition.
Mr Foreman has nominated Year 7 student Leyton M for a superb piece of homework and effort on his Mary Rose homework and Year 11 pupils who attended the History subject conference last Tuesday, Well Done!

Year 8 students Christopher for great contributions and Alex P for his hard work in every lesson.
Year 9 students Reva for her positive attitude, helpfulness and great work ethic and Nicole K for always being so helpful in the class.
Year 10 student Gretil for her high standards in her work.
Year 11 students Julia for striving to succeed, and Ella and Ruben for their healthy, albeit ruthless, competitiveness in every single task. It shows a great determination to do their absolute best.
PE:
Miss Williams has nominated her Year 10 PE group for fantastic effort in their handball lesson this week. Ethan and Antoni showcased great skill and understanding of game play. Also nominated are the Year 8 groups for their demonstration of skill and their resilience in their badminton lessons this week.
Mr Clamp has nominated Uros in Year 7 for outstanding effort and positive communication. Also nominated is Ava in Year 10 for continued effort in Sports Science and Weronika in Year 10 for outstanding attention to detail in coursework in Sports Science.
Mr Rogers has nominated Year 7 student Jake for excellent work in Volleyball.
Mr Fitzpatrick has nominated Year 8 student Alex for excellent skills in the Handball lesson.
Science:
Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 10 students Freddie and Shanli for their contributions to the astronomy lessons in Physics.

Computer Science:

Year 7CA students have been working through tasks independently using the scratch program and using their problem-solving skills to help complete the given scenario. The following students have gone that extra mile to excel in their problem-solving skills: Nadia, Cornelia, Anna, Emma, Jody, Ariana, Analeigh, Isla, Keigan, Mark, Jahari and Josh.
9CA/CS1, 9SW/CS1, 9TU/CS1, 9TA/CS1, 9TE/CS1 students have been working on different types of Cyber Attacks during their Computer Science lessons. They have been researching and discussing what Blagging, Ransomware, Brute Force, DDOS and Viruses are. They have researched the information and put it altogether on a PowerPoint to present their findings to the whole class. The following students have excelled with their research skills using the Internet to gather the relevant information to provide good professional presentations for a particular audience. Year 10D/CS1 students have been focusing on the Legislation and Privacy Acts in their Computer Science lessons this week. Answering worksheets and exam style questions to enable them to have experience, knowledge and understanding in what to expect when they have their GCSE exams in Year 11. The following students have shown motivation, dedication and effort into their studies this week: Kacper, Joshua, Max, Rhys, Shane, Benjamin, Mihai, Marian, Keely, Stas, Zhivko, Harrison, Daniel, Toby, Toby, Tyler, Oliver and Linards.
Year 8SI/CS1 students have been working on their Data Representation unit and they had an assessment today. Student put a lot of effort into getting all tasks completed and several students finished before the time allocated. Well done to the following students for being motivated and getting the work completed before time: Lucus, Aidan, Alan, Moyo, Bradley, Anna and Amelia.

Nadia (7CA) for outstanding problems solving skills using the Scratch Program.
James (9CA) for motivation and effort in Computer Science lessons, always completes the work during the lesson.
Lubo (9TU) who always completes Computer Science work to an excellent standard in every lesson.
Kacper (Year 10) for his dedication and motivation to his work in Computer Science.
Art:
Mrs Morgan has nominated Year 11 students Cameron, Amelia, Ella and Kiera who have completed their exam work to an excellent standard.
Miss Bowman has nominated Wiktoria 8CO, Hanni 7CO, Eleanor 7TA, Ellie 9SI, Caeden 7CO and Natalia 7ST. A big well done to you all for winning the competition in Art club this week, all students showed great creativity and skill through our outdoor drawing lesson on the field.
Duke of Edinburgh:
The Duke of Edinburgh Silver/Gold (Cameron, James) and Bronze (Mason, Filip, Emily, Courtney, Nikola) students were set a task on how to put up a tent the quickest. They were working in three groups and were given the tent with instructions. Emily I, Nikola K, and Courtney F won the competition.
