SPOTLIGHT ON FIRST GRADE
Mrs. Brock, Mrs. Knauss and Mrs. Lane's Classes
First grade has been very busy the past few weeks. All classes have been learning how to add in math and sounding out words as well as reading fabulous books in reading class. They are also learning about apples and pumpkins during this Fall season. In Mrs. Brock's class they are doing an author study with Mo Willems books. In Mrs. Knauss' class they are reading about Johnny Appleseed, and in Mrs. Lane's class, they are reading all about African Animals. It is so fun to watch all the learning taking place in all three of these classes!
The Ohio National Guard Family Readiness & Warrior Support Newsletter
Please take a look at the wonderful resources that are provided in this newsletter from this organization. We think you will find the resources to be helpful for children of all ages.
Halloween
This year we will still be able to celebrate Halloween at school, however, there will not be a parade. We also, cannot invite parents into the building for the classroom parties. We will have some fun as the students are allowed to wear costumes and celebrate with their classmates. The costumes must be comfortable enough so that students can wear them all day long. Students will not be permitted to change into their costumes at school. No make-up, face paint, weapons, or masks are allowed. COVID masks are still required. Please keep all this information in mind as you prepare to get ready for the upcoming holiday. If your child will not be comfortable in a costume all day, he/she can participate by wearing Halloween spirit wear or any Halloween colors.
Picture Day
Our picture day was on October 1st. If your child was absent, we will have a makeup picture day on November 12th. On October 1st, every student in the building was photographed. If you did not send in money on that day and would like to purchase the pictures, you can still order them online until midnight tonight, October 2nd. If you order online, the website is inter-state.com/order. You will need to use the code 52993BB. November 12th will also be the day that our virtual students will have their pictures taken. Our virtual students will be taking the pictures at Thomas Jefferson after school hours. We will have a sign-up system so that you can choose a time that is convenient for you. We will be sending out more information as we get closer to the date.
