Black History Month Celebrations

Parents,


Across our district, schools are celebrating Black History Month! This year at Pontiac, each grade level will have its own celebration. Our teachers have been working hard all month in preparation for the events. Teachers were encouraged to incorporate their grade level standards with their Black History Month celebrations. We have students that are researching politicians, scientists, and musicians. We also have students creating gallery walks, video presentations, and musical performances. Please be on the lookout for an invitation from your child’s teacher detailing when performances will take place or when final products will be sent home with students. We hope that you are able to join us for your child’s contribution to our Black History Month celebrations.


Kindergarten - African-American Research/Dress Up Feb 28th 8:30 - 10:00


1st- Inventor Guess Who WeVideo Projects Feb. 28th 12:30 - 1:00


2nd- Motown Performances Feb. 28th 1:30 - 2:30 in Cafeteria


3rd- African-American A-Z book.Feb 28 at 1:45 - 2:30 in Media Center


4th- Black History Politicians WeVideo (Will be sent to parents on Feb. 28th)


5th- Scientists and Inventors Project Feb. 28th

Lower Montessori - Research Projects/Hall Displays

(Volunteers needed for all of the times below)


  • Students may shop alone Thursday, March 2 - Wednesday, March 8 from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm


In addition, students may shop with adults at the following special events

  • Thursday, March 2, 7:30 - 8:30 am
  • Friday, March 3, 7:30 - 8:30 am
(Special Grandparent Event)
  • Monday, March 6, 7:30 - 8:30 am
  • Tuesday, March 7, 7:30 - 8:30 am
  • Wednesday, March 8, 7:30 - 8:30 am

(Late Night Shop - 3;45 - 7:00 pm)

The Race is On!

We did it! Not only did we collect more than 1,500 boxtops, but we collected more than 2,000 boxtops! Our administrative team competed in a tricycle race after a dynamic Digital Learning Day! Guess who won! Bet your child can tell you!

Yearbooks for Sale!

Don't miss your chance to order this year's yearbook! The price is only $22.00 if you order by April 15 and $25.00 after that deadline. Packets have gone home with each child to order these yearbooks. They are also available online at strawbridge.net with the school code 100431. Checks are to be made payable to Pontiac Elementary School.
