What was the best part of your Thanksgiving meal?
Staff Spotlight
Nicholas Budge, Director of Bands
Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I remember having two distinct ideas about my future career. When I was in the 6th grade I wanted to become a Marine Biologist. I read books and went to aquariums for years. I was lucky enough that my high school had an oceanography class to take. As I learned more I continued to be intrigued. However, the realization that the duties of a biologist would include a large amount of dissection I graciously bowed out. In Middle School and High School I was fortunate to have two outstanding band directors. Apart from my parents, they were the most influential adults in my life. My directors always expected the best out of us, whether we were on or off the stage. I have tried to honor their legacy by striving to do the same with my own students. Band and all of the related avenues have meant the world to me. Band has given me a career that has allowed me to continue to be creative. It has sent me traveling all over the world. It even lead me to meet my amazing partner.
Q: What was your favorite subject in school?
A: Band
Q: What's the best place you've traveled to?
A: This last summer I was able to travel with my mother to Wales. We were able to explore a few of the places that our ancestors lived. It is beautiful country. I doubt I'll ever be able to read or speak the language.
Q: Do you play any sports?
A: While I was growing up I played anything and everything. In high school I settled on Football, Wrestling and Baseball. I was able to play all three sports through high school. Today I enjoy the occasional cross country ski or golf game.
Q: What's your favorite season?
A: Every season has something that is best about it. I love the brisk air and baseball in the Fall, the snow in the Winter, flowers and baseball in the spring, and traveling and baseball in the summer.

Student Body Award for November: Thanksgiver
Lilly Christenson recognized by peers
Each month, student leadership selects a quality they would like to recognize in their peers. This month, the student body voted on the Thanksgiver Award to recognize a classmate who always gives thanks and shows gratitude. Congratulations, junior Lilly Christenson!
Donors Choose: 10th Grade English Graphic Novel
50% still needed to reach fundraising goal to purchase this book. Any amount helps!
The English Department is currently fundraising for an upcoming unit where students will read George Takei's superb graphic (novel) memoir, They Called Us Enemy. Our objectives are to analyze Takei's characterization, plot development, themes, style, and other literary devices and situate the story in history and the present. We will use the text to connect with excerpts of Henry Miller's play The Crucible and to fuel class discussions, literary analysis assignments, and an essay.
If you are able to contribute to the fundraiser, any amount would be greatly appreciated! Here is the link: CLICK HERE.
