From the Principal's Desk
Happy Fall! October is such an exciting time of year at school. Students are settled into their routines and true learning is happening every day! That makes attendance more important than ever. A student is considered "chronically absent" when they miss 10% or more of the school year. That equates out to 18 days a year, or 2 days a month. At the end of the first trimester, any student who is considered chronically absent will be sent a truancy letter from the school. This is not meant to scare or shame, but to bring attention to the fact that these absences are adding up to a loss of learning time. We want to work together with families to ensure our students are present at school and learning each and every day.
If you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance of any kind, please reach out to me and we can work together to ensure your student's attendance and success.
One of the things I love best about our district, is how diverse it is! We have families from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. With that in mind, Salt Creek and FTC have made an adjustment to our typical "Halloween Party" from years past. This year, in order to include all students in our school celebration, we will be having a "Fall Party." It will NOT be focused on the Halloween holiday and we will NOT be hosting a costume parade during school hours. Instead, FTC is hosting a district wide Fall Fest where students and families can wear their costumes, "Trunk-or-treat" and participate in a wide variety of family fun activities. We encourage anyone who DOES celebrate the Halloween holiday, to join us at Fall Fest - October 14th from 9am-12pm at Albright Middle School. See below for more details from FTC.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Scanlan
TA Spotlight
We are so lucky at Salt Creek to have an amazing group of Teaching Assistants at each grade level. TA's support classroom teachers with instruction throughout the day as well as assist students with their learning; sometimes working in small groups or one on one if a student needs a little extra support. Our TA's go above and beyond supporting our Salt Creek students! Thank you for all you do!

What's Happening at Salt Creek
All School Gatherings!
Each month, Salt Creek hosts a school-wide gathering with all the students of the school. In September we did introductions and the book, "We Are All Welcome." This month we divided up into our school "families." We divided up all students into mixed groups from grade levels and classes and together students built their family''s "house." Over the next year, as we gather, students will come back together with their school families for more friendship and fun. It's just another way we build connections as a whole school family! Check out a few family photos below:

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
TECHNOLOGY FEE
You can make payment for your child's school fees through RevTrak by signing on to Skyward. If you do not see a tech fee in RevTrak please contact the school office your child will attend. Please see below for RevTrak payments. You can also come in and make payment by cash or check to any school in our district.
Thank you in advance.
A New Way to Pay Fees in Skyward
NO MORE E-PAY! We have rolled out a new way to pay for lunches, school fees and activity fees for students. You can sign up here https://saltcreek48.revtrak.net/. Or you can go to your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
