Eastridge's Weekly Update for Students and Caregivers
Week of September 4, 2020

NWEA Testing
Next week marks the start of NWEA testing, an assessment your student will take two times this year in both reading and math. These assessments are adaptive reading and math computerized tests, which means the questions become simpler or more complex in response to how students respond. Administered in September and March, the assessments are designed to target students’ academic performance according to their current achievement level. These tests provides teachers with accurate, and actionable evidence to help target instruction for each student or groups of students regardless of how far above or below they are from their grade level. These tests determine students’ instructional level and measure academic growth throughout the school year and from year to year in the areas of reading and math. We look forward to discussing student results with parents. Students (in-person and virtual) in MSD Warren Township in grade 1st - 8th will take these assessments sometime between September 8th - September 25th. All in person Kindergarten students will also be taking the test.
Virtual School
In an effort to support families and teachers, families need only contact their virtual teacher and their home school for support. If in doubt, contact your teacher and they will support your needs.
This week's virtual schedule:
Please ensure your family can log into Canvas. Canvas is the only way that building administrators can inform families when the teacher is out.Students can log into Canvas using their google email and password. If you don’t have it, please ask your teacher today.

The week of Labor Day is not a typical week.
Please be on-time for each meeting and log-in with your first and last name. Also, please follow the teacher’s expectations for camera-use.

I would also like to remind our 6-12 students that we are offering a take home meal for your VIRTUAL Application Day.
Technology Updates and Reminders
If you have a technology or device need, please submit a help ticket through IncidentIQ support system by clicking on Technology under the Explore Tab and then select Parent Tech Info. Families can also use this process or contact their child’s school to request a WIFI hotspot. We will continue to provide device support at Moorhead Community Resource Center Monday - Friday from 11:00 - 1:00. We have identified about 600 students who have not returned their device from this past spring. Please bring your device to Moorhead or Eastridge as soon, as possible. Families will be billed for unreturned devices.

Attendance
For the 2020-2021 school year, Warren Township has transitioned to a new student information system called Synergy allowing our parents and caregivers to have improved access to school information through the parent portal called ParentVUE. We are aware that at his time some students’ attendance records are reflecting students are absent, when in fact they were present. This is mostly the case for our students who are attending school VIRTUALLY on application days or in the VIRTUAL opinion full-time. We want to assure you that teachers are keeping accurate attendance records and that we are working to correct attendance records for all our students.
Health Forms
Immunization Record
In order for our schools to be in compliance with the state laws regarding immunizations, please make sure that your student(s) have their updated information on file with your school's nursing staff. All student vaccines must be on file and up to date by September 21, 2020 to avoid exclusion. Please make your school's nursing staff aware of any upcoming appointments for vaccines, or if there are any medical or religious objections to your student receiving his or her vaccines
Also, PLEASE inform your school's nurse of any chronic health conditions that the school should be made aware of, and that your student's medical emergency information is up to date.
Medical Emergency Forms
These forms came home the first day of school. It is very important to fill these out and return them to the school as soon as possible.
School District Publications/News Media Use
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.

Yearbook
From Lifetouch:
Thank you for contacting us. I do apologize for the inconvenience. At this time the yearbook for your school is still in production. I am very sorry about the delay! Due to lab closures caused by Covid-19 we definitely fell behind. We are producing all yearbooks in the order they were submitted to us. We expect to print and ship all submitted books within the next 6 weeks. However, depending on when your book was submitted you may see it sooner.
